C'mon lets be realistic...itr 93mph @ 1/4 that doesn't match up. They have got to be faster than that. Toyota Cressidas can pull that off.

Ummm what do you think a Type R is ? Gods gift to cars ? They trap 93mph...190hp isn't going to get you a magical 100mph trap cause it says Type R.

Toyota Cressidas are what ? 17 second cars....

Actually most stock Type R's running around me are usually 15 second cars, I even have a video of a MX6 LS beating up on a 2000 Type R, was kind of funny.

The LS ran a best of 15.1@91mph

Motortrend, with pro drivers, could only get a 15.1@94mph out of one.

15 second 1/4 mile times qualify as slow...BTW how old are you? Whats your car run ? Must not be too fast if you think Type R's are fast.

I respect all FAST cars, just came in here to smash the myth that a DSM is slower in stock form, thats all.

Oh well if that is what you came for i am with you. Stock for Stock DSM kicks the shizt out of the ITR but i don't know what he had done. We were on the freeway by the way. I am 21...I have never taken my car to the track... i look forward to it. What i really enjoy doing is blazing throught the mountain roads. Thats my thing and circuit tracks.

I got to agree there, taking twisties is alot of fun :D

Straight line speed is nice of course, but when you look in the rear view on a tight on-ramp on the freeway and see the ricer/muscle car slam on thier brakes while you just keep on it is always good for a laugh or two :D

Several people on h-t have ran 14.6's-14.9's stock. Its not impossible, redfury, you're not smashing it. There is proof.
I have to call BS on that. A stock Type R will run about 15.2-15.6...depending on driver. Many here at the local track run 15.5's at best. There is not 1 timeslip shown here yet..so untill than im going to call BS on all this. So you said there is proof? Let us see it

The fastest "close to stock" time was a white one almost 3 years ago.
With intake and exhaust he ran a 14.6
No wait, I think he had headers too. But thats not that close I guess.
The rest I saw were turbo and ran 12's 13's.
But only a handful.

I remember reading the consumer reviews.
One guy wrote, if you buy this as a performance car, plan on getting beat by every domestic and any turbo import. The doors rattle, rides like ass, and isn't worth the $20K+ This car is the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned.

I howled. I'd love to catch one from a roll. I'm a sucky launcher... :(

Everyone's quick to call BS on the Type R, but I don't see a timeslip of a stock DSM posted.

The Type R was built for track performance, and by track I mean a road course. It doesn't even come with air conditioning. It has been proven and tons of magazines have said that the Type R has the best FWD chassis on the market. I was back and forth between the Type R and the SRT-4 for a while, but since there is hardly any autocross or road courses in my area it made it a pretty easy choice in the end.

When it comes down to some blowing up th Type R myth that its a 14 second car stock, then they always come with the it was built for a track, same with S2K's. Excuses, excuses.

My stock GST timeslip, notice my trap speed 94mph(good for high 14s if I could have stayed away from that horrible 2.4 60ft)

Type R Article Dyno Spot Racing

After 2000, the Type R came standard with A/C

They could only get a 15.1 stock out of thier type R....ran a 12.5@108 supercharged.

They got 161whp and 117tq stock

Driveablity must suck when you have to go to 8000RPM just to pass a school bus.

I still dont see a timeslip posted of a "14.6 bone stock Type R". Ivan already backed his shit up..where are you? Who gives a flying fuk about whos faster stock for stock?? The point is..a decently modded Type R will get walked everytime by a decently modded DSM. A better comparison will be mod for mod..and in the end im sure even u will find out that the DSM's are far superrior. True, they have potential, but you comparing a stock Type R to a Stock DSM..that isnt much of a comparison. Turbo > NA 4 cylinder. End of discussion..if thats not enough..why dont u read a thread posted awhile back about the guy with the built Type R that ran me..just ask him what he thinks about his car. It seems to me you must be 100% stock.

Regards

Are you that fucking dumb? You fucking posted a link to a 14second Type R in an earlier post trapping almost 94mph. Guess what your car trapped stock. That's right, 94mph.

Yes, Ivan backed his shit up by owning himself. He posted a timeslip of each and the one of the Type R was faster. Evidently your friend is the one who cares which is faster stock for stock because he made it his mission to "blow this myth out of the water". I never claimed 14.6, but Motor Trend did get 14.7 stock. Whereas no other magazine could get a DSM into the 14's except for the 95 GSX.

I'm not stock, I'm deep into the 13's with minimal mods (even stock exhaust and stock tires).
