what are the best things you can do to improve your shifter feel (short shifter, bushings, ect...) what brands are the best and what should i think about getting. also what makes that cool noise when you shift?

also what makes that cool noise when you shift?
Thats a blow off valve... it releases pressure off your turbo and releases air between shifts... thats why you hear that.

As for better shifting, i have a B&M Short shifter... it feels really good...

I heard that it might get hard shifting after a while so you could get a bushing kit.

A nice clutch can help too.

i wasn't talking about the bov sound, i was talking about when you replace some bushing somewhere it makes a cool "chinking" sound when you shift into gear. i already have a clutch,

i was just wondering what bushings to replace, and what is the best brand short shifter.

You can try the following website for reviews on almost every brand that is preferred by DSM owners:

The symborski shifter bushings will make the metal clunking noise and make it uncomfortable to drive but improves the shifter "feel,"

so other people op for the polyurethane bushings which doesn't give you the "sound" but have negligible difference in performance

Yes, as stated above, replace all your bushings. That noise is made from the bushings. Not to be dumb, but I wish all i had worry about with my car was what noise it made when I shifted  Heck, I dont hear anything once the gate opens, except for the kittens dying ;)

I heard it when i test drove a talon a while back. and yeah it did sound like the eclipse from F&F :)

I have installed a metal bushing kit ender the shifter on my 2g, and installed skateboard bearings on the cable ends at the trans. Installing the bearings definitely stiffened the shifter and give it a much more positive feel.

I did the same to my 1g and had good results. This along with a 2g shift knob and my car shifts alot better.still grinds second when it's cold dough.Since you have a 2g i would get a B&M short shifter along with the bushings and that should realy tighten up your shifting.
