Ok. i just got my car today. when i test drove it it was a beast. IT was around 40 degrees that night. it was around 20 degrees to night and it acts like its hitting fuel cut. It misses around 5grand or 6grand. Kind of back fires. it has a apex 3inch dp and now exaust. just ends and dp. the factory boost controller has been hacke so that it runs 13psi. it has stock injectors, but 255lph fuel pump. owner said that it does it when no 93 octane and cold. i put 93 in it , but it is cold. like i said it didnt do it when i first drove the car. I think i need to turn the boost down, but dont know how to with stock controller. i have a mbc that i dont know what brand it is and not to sure how to install. Most just show for hallman and its not that brand. let me know if i cant keep it from fuel cutting or if that isnt safe how to lower the boost with stock controller.

installing a boost controller is the same anyway you cut it, T it off of the BOV line to the wastegate nipple...

Check for boost leaks and searching is your friend...this has been discussed so much I could write a book on it

it has been checked for boost leak and has none. all turbo hoses have been replaced. and psi stats right at 13psi and doesnt fall off at all.

Is the turbo stock?

Replace plugs and wires.
dont know about the plugs and wires. the motor only has 7000 miles on rebuild and i would think that they would replace the plugs and wires while doing that. I may go on and change the plugs and wires to be on the safe side. it wont hurt. WHat plugs do u suggest. I always heard to go with ngk, but not so sure if i should go colder or not.

Okay I had that problem too. It is because of the cold weather and your stock MAS. When I lived in North Dakota I would have that problem when it got cold. It will stop when the weather gets warmer. Or you can get a chip to stop the fuel cut.

on the way to work this afternoon it wasnt as cold and didnt have problem. previous owner said the same thing that it does it when its cold, but hell it was only around 20 last night. can you point me to a place to get a chip to stop the fuel cut and also is that safe. and how hard is it to put the chip in or can u just send ecu off and have someone put it in for u.

Do you have a logger? If not GET ONE and log the injector duty, o2 readings, knock, timing advance and RPMs and see if those are good.
no i dont and can u tell me where to get a logger and dont u have to have a palm for that. where does it hook up as well. sorry to ask so many questions, but im new to all this. Im a Mustang man and Dsm man and mustangs arent so confusing being they dont have turbo.

Okay first your going to have to find out if you have a Eprom ecu. If you do have a eprom ecu you can get chips that will stop fuel cut. On the palm issue it plugs into the port next to your fuse panel next to your feet on the Driver side. Since you don't have one don't worry about it. You are going to have to pull your ecu to see if you have a eprom ecu and your ecu is in your center console behind your radio. just take the side panels off your center console and look to the rear you'll see it, it's bolted to the metal bracing of your center console.

This is the link for the Eprom and how to find out if you have one.

This link has the info on the chip that I run but I just upgrade to DSMLINK it's a good choice.

If you have a eprom ecu I'll hook you up with a stage 3 chip. But you need to have someone install it and change the caps too if you decide to go this route. Email me at my personal address if you want the chip.

For the 50th time.
You are not hitting fuel cut.

quote from another post
me "Fuel cut is more accurately described as: it feels like the car hit an invisible brick wall.
It is a single very violent jerk, where any sane person would think they just put a few extra holes in their block."

It's a good thing thegreatms showed the quote because if you are just running a 3 inch down pipe and that's it for exhaust, and you still have the stock turbo you are probably getting boost creep and your stock fuel injectors are not keeping up with the boost. Do you have a aftermarket boost gauge, or are you using the stock one? Because this would explain alot then.

great customer service and product with warrenty

With the logger you can tell if your injector pulse goes to zero which indicated fuel cut. It does sound like fuel cut because of the cold weather thing, the colder the air, the denser it is, the more chance you have of hitting fuel cut. Aftermarket boost gauge as metioned before is a must.

Just a little help maybe? The gst me and my buddy have been working on was having the same problem as you have described, getting to about 4 grand and the car would want to shut off and stumble and backfire, we gapped the plugs, replaced plug wires and also removed the turbo xs rfl bov replaced with stock crushed. The car runs like a champ now no problems at all
