so we have been converting my buddies 97 fwd eclipse and we need to go on our ritual run to Home Depot(its a daily thing) for misc. bolts and stuff. so on the way there, just my luck a brand new 06 Eclipse GT, i have been wanting to race one of these since my last visit to the track, so it takes me a min to get him to play so we start from a role of about 40 miles an hour, he down shifts i throw it in 2nd and away we go he pulls on me at first, i hit 3rd i start pullin a half a car length ahead, then he gets even with me, i hit fourth and by this time we are doing about 115, 120, by now i thought my awd would kill me but fourth gear i just kept pullin and pullin till about a car length or two ahead then he just gave up, all i have to say is those things can move!!

97' eagle talon tsi awd-ported manifold, 3" downpipe, 2 1/2" cat back, manual boost controller(15psi) still on the t-25!!

06' Eclipse GT-stock (265hp)

VERY nice, i'm still looking for one of the new Eclipses to play against my 1G but so far no such luck.

I'd like to rape one of them...heh i remember when I used to think my car was fast with a 14b;) And you only got a T25! Just wait til you get a real turbo, then your perspective will change on what cars can "move" :D

I have had the WORST luck finding races lately...I pulled up to the In-n-Out window to wait for my food, right as I do a nice modded Cobra pulls out - if I was only 5 minutes sooner!!!!!! I drove around for over an hour tonight on Beach Blvd. with no luck. Saw an NSX, couldn't turn around in time, saw a couple nice cars that didn't want to play.

one of my friends is supposed to be getting the 06 elcipse gt...i gotta say, that is one of the nicest things us-spec mitsubishi has come up with to date. i love the mivec v6 they have going on there...i want them to bring back the gsx though it would make me very happy

i would agree those 06 eclipse's are packin the power but i was kinda upset with the body design, me personally think they went for a luxury look and all the new imports are going for that luxury look also, even the new skylines,i seen the sketchs they had for it, i wish they would have stuck with the 2 gens,i think they messed up with the design of the spyder and the 06,but not the power of the 06,that was the best thing to happen to the dsm family, are the new 06's part of the dsm family?

I disagree w/ you on that too. I think the MIVEC 6 cylinder was not a good decision. There is way less aftermarket support, and it'll cost you an assload more to modify it to the level that any standard modded 4G63T is at.

Its kind of like the problem a lot of VW guys had with the VR6 motor. Its a great motor, but costs a lot to add power that the turbo guys can get with very cheap and or easy mods.

I don't mind the look of them, I think it is a decent improvement over the 3g car. But I will always miss the 1g and 2g cars styling.

^ That is a car that was made by Road Race Engineering and Ralliart. There is speculation as to whether or not it will be built. You can find more pictures/opinions floating around on this website, just do a search on here for "SEMA" or "Ralliart Eclipse". Also I'm not aware of an "AWD Kit" for the 06 Eclipse, besides being pricey, I'd be willing to bet that you've run into a salesman that is trying to say anything to make a sale. I've run into those salesman before when I was just stoping by to buy an OEM part. To make a long story short, he (the salesman that approached me) was unaware that I had basically the same engine and even had AWD on my old 95 GSX, let alone that I've already given an EVO a run for his money ;) .

Road Race Engineering did not have anything to do with that car's production. They have their own project 4G (which is NA), but they were not involved in this car.
