Just a quick question about injectors

i have a 1990 5 speed tsi AWD i have a walbro 255lph installed as well as 3 inch from downpipe back exhaust. i have K&N open intake as well as a front mount intercooler. I just bought an EVO III 16G ported. What size injectors should I be using. Also should i buy a new fuel rail? And since I'm getting bigger injectors what is my best bet for tuning the car to accept the bigger injectors? i have an Apexi SAFCI but i have no idea how to use it (came with car) will this be sufficient or should i go with the MAF translator. Also what PSI should I be looking at using with my set up. I have stock internals. How hard is it to change injectors and are there any parts i should automatically change with my new injectors?

I believe you could use the 550s and still be able to tune it with the SAFC. I've seen some guys runnin 20+ lbs on that setup, but I prefer the safe route around 15-18psi. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you want to keep your eye out for boost creep tho, I've heard with that turbo and the exhaust it will creep unless you port the shit out of the exhaust housing where the wastegate flapper is.

550cc/min injectors will work well with your setup. Your Apex'i Safc will be just fine for tuning the car in, no need for the MAFT. Just get yourself a logger and read up on the basics of tuning.

try to get at least 660cc injectors, you dont need a fuel rail, best bet for tuning is a wideband and some type of monitoring device like a logger or even dsmlink, you dont need a MAF translator, you wont know how much PSI you can push until your able to monitor your settings and motor, its easy to swap injectors just get new seals and o-rings.

yeah the evo III does have an issue with creep but that can be easily fixed. injectors are easey to change out and if you like you can buy a set of new orings for it but make sure you buy the lower injector seals as they turn into hard plastic over time and cause boost leaks. also you should invest in a afpr such as an aeromotive to properly control that 255 pump. 550 injectors are ok to start off with the evoIII but can easily be overrun. my personal choice would be 680s but from reading your post you are no where near capable of tuning those injectors with a saf-c. you might want to look into getting a keydriver chip to compliment your afc or just go all out and get dsmlink.

dont bother asking about max boost. i ran well over 20psi on pump gas daily with my evoIII but i also spent a pile of time tuning it. just use your logger and tune it to the best of your ability or have a knowledgable friend help you out.

Agreed. Also Dr.Spock is right, you don't need to upgrade the fuel rail. The stocker will handle a thirsty engine.

so basically my stock injectors are fine. But I will eventually upgrade. I won't be turning the boost past 15-16 anyway. you guys were talking about a logger. where exactly do i get one of those because i have NO clue on how to use my SAFC I. i went online and got the instructions but still makes no sense. my EVO II has the upgraded flapper by the way. i do need to buy a fuel pressure regulator though. and an air/fuel ratio gauge. anyone know about any places in or near connecticut where i could have all of this tuned for me? right now my car is in the shop getting some oil issues fixed up but maybe after she comes out ill venture to a dyno place and get it tuned and dynoed or something. any other advice? im asking all of this because i dont feal like running lean and destroying my car. im poor as it is and i dont need it breaking more than usual. thanks again

under what circumstances would you need to buy an aftermarket fuel rail? also will one walbro fuel pump handle 600+hp because ive seen peopel run dual pumps at that hp rating...
