I bought my Eclipse from Miami Florida in Aug. 2005, Brought it up to Montreal {on a flat bed}...Drove it for 3 months before winter kicked in and then put her into Hibernation. But this had to have been the best KILL during that 3 months of driving the car.
Started off here in Montreal on a street called University. The kind of street where its a city street then out of nowhere you come to the last traffic light and BAAAM the rest of the road infront of you is all highway. So thats when I approached the middle lane and pulled up to the Red traffic light...I see angel eyes on my side view mirror about to sit beside me on the left side. I take a look at the driver, approximately 50-60 years of age, male, wearing sunglasses...lol Anyways, Im there minding my own business listening to my music, the other driver in the 323xi looks at me in disgust, like his BMW it 'outclassing' my 99 Eclipse RS. I put my bumper ahead of his...he does the same...I put mine a little further, he does the same again....Enough of the kid games....GREEN!!! dropped the clutch, [my Eclipse being stock on 14's] I still had to limit my skidding, 1st gear I was ahead by 2 hood lengths (Thank God to LIGHT ASS RS's), 2nd gear kicked in, BMW started creeping slowly on my left side reaching my front bumper with that BMW engine grasping for air, 6700RPM shifted into 3rd Im ahead now my 3/4 car lengths. 6700RPM comes around again, shift into 4th and Im ahead a full car length...About 200 feet ahead is a medium right on a highway, took the inside, and the old man's b*lls were so wrinkled he couldnt take that turn....The look on his face was hilarious....The look of ' That guy spend 1/4 of what I spent on my Beamer' ..
I dont care what anyone says, the RS is SUPER light, and decent for stock. After that little fiasco, I now have so much confidence in DSM's, and by the way shes been treating me I couldnt ask for more...
RS-T project soon to be..Spring is around the corner!!! woot woot!!!
