umm i believe he was working on other cars and about the trans thing i believe it was an auto im not sure but it sounded like it though thats all i can really say about that but yea im running 15 pounds. that was really my only race so im not really pushing my car that hard.
Got ya, makes a little more sense now. There is a big difference in the LS1's between the auto's and the manuals. I can take out an auto with no problems while the manuals give me hell.

Ummm... NO. Your wrong. Dead wrong.

The auto LS1's are at worst 2 tenths slower than the manual ones, and that's only if the manual has a good driver, otherwise the autos are actually quicker for your typical non expirenced driver.

The ws6's had the 320hp LS1 engines. The new z06's have the LS2's i think.

The ls1 cars are usually underrated with many putting down at least 300rwhp and some as high as 320 stock This is more like 350 to 375 engine hp.The lt1 were close to their engine ratings of like 275 and 285 for regular with like 305 for the ws6 lt1s.
I had 96 trans am ,97 with lots of mods and now the 99 with quite a few mods.
Again it would depend on what mods the dsm had.Off the line pretty easy to get the jump on the ls1 or lt1 if they are on street tires.I run nitto drag radials on my 96z28 and 99 trans am and can pull decent 60fts but an awd talon would have a bit of advantage off the lights.
To beat a ls1 98 up ws6 would take for sure some decent mods on a 14b. And talking more than just upping the boost to 15.
Anyway there are lots of variables in a street race..the faster car dont always win.Especially when racing manual cars. You can misshifts, hit the rev limiter, short shift..no shift down ,etc.
For example a 500 hp ls1 would be no problem to beat on the highway if the guy stays in say sixth gear. 5th and sixth are overdrive gears. And sixth if big time overdrive..good usually only for fuel mileage. But lots of guys don't have a clue how to drive their manual cars so on the street anything can and does happen
Last year at track I wasted a honda with turbo and spray and ran only a 14.3 at 96mph with only a 2.18 60ft.
He ran like a 16.5 at 85 with like a 2.85 60ft.I was on nittos he was on street tires. He blew his tires off and then had to back out of it .No way he could keep it straight on street tires.
He had decent power and might have run 12s but didn't matter. My auto 325 engine hp heavy 3900 pound raceweight vert beat him no problem.
Manual cars suck for racing.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but wasn't the WS6,LS1 and 6 speed ?Isn't that why it was called WS6,because of the 6 speed?or should i put down the crack pipe?I saw a bone stock ls1 GTO put out 290 whp on a hot florida day.I don't see 300 awhp on a small 16g.MAYBEEE on a EVO III 16g,but not a small one.Still not sayin you didn't beat him, maybe he was just a regular firebird and just put a WS6 sticker on there. The domestic guys do that more then they want to admit :p .Whatever the hell it was, good kill.

WS6 is the factory option code for Ram Air, found on the Trans Am build sheet. It has nothing to do with the type of transmission found in said vehicle.

It's hard to miss a WS6.

would it be more convincing if i told you it was ported as well? umm im not sure if its exactly 300whp but everyone says its up there. not trying to say my setup is the shit or anything my friend jake has an evo 16g i have a little better supporting mods and i pull on him and he says his car is at 15-16psi.

so in conclusion maybe my supporting mods make the difference? i dont know anyone else work with the small 16g maybe you could shed some light on this subject?

a small 16g is rated at 350 FLYWHEEL horsepower @ 18psi. Figure in drivetrain loss, and you are at 275whp. If you are only running 15psi, I don't see you making more than 250whp.

I don't think you could have beat him. What Trans Am around is stock anymore? I bet the guy had at least an exhaust. And if he's got that AND ram air, there's no way you could have beat him, unless he just wasn't trying.
