my 90 has a really nice interior, but the headliner is missing. The guy before me tore it out. I've decided to sell the car, would it be worth putting a headliner in and asking more for the car? or should I just leave it the way it is?

I would put one in it. It broadens the market on who might potentially buy it. Alot of people are anal about stuff like that. I'm one of them. I hate having a headliner hanging down on my head. But I hate even more for there not to be one there.

I agree. Put one in unless you already have a willing buyer. It's pretty cheap to go to an upholstery shop to have them put one in. It's also very easy to do it yourself if you have ANY mechanical skills what so ever.

Is just the fabric torn down or is it missing the cardboard/styrofoam backing as well?

If it is just the fabric, that is an easy fax with some material from a fabric outlet and spray adhesive.

yeah deffinently put it back in although its not a major flaw..so people will just look at it as a eye soar and turno away from it i myself wouldnt want to get a car with no headliner..but im a little anal about little flaws like that..

Not trying to steal your thread...Just trying to not make another one but... Does anyone on here have a leather type headliner like in the preludes and older accords??? It doesn't fall and it always looks perfect. Just wondering if anyone thought of getting one, how much it costs, and if it could be done.

it can be done for pretty cheap... use the stock headliner board, get a bottle of 3m super- 10bux.. and whatever material you like... probaby 30bux if you get some really nice fabric or leather... i personally would want to try to do a fiberglass headliner, not to say it wouldnt be sweet/unique

tsuki - stock headliner can be redone for 22 dollars and about 2 hours of your time. its quick and easy and will def. help you sell.. if you have a gsx or gst your market will (should) include more mechanically inclined and headliner wouldnt be as big of a problem... hands on guys are usually looking for a cheaper car that needs easy work... if it is a non turbo you are gonna be selling to 16 year olds that think its fast and dont know better, or my aunt matilda, and they would think the dealership is the only way to get a new headliner...(for the price and time it takes...DIY)
no offense 16 year olds or aunt matildas

2 hours and $22? Jeez, Im either a headliner noob or your super man?

I guess my case was a little worse, but it took me quite a bit longer than 2 hours to do a full headliner removal/redoe/install on my previous 90awd....

I bought black fabric from JoAnn's fabric + headliner adhesive and I forgot what else, but it added up to close to $40...

I had to remove most of the pillars, panels and visors to make room and unbolt the factory headliner, which was spitting out 16yo adhesive like it was no tomorrow....It was my first time so I will say it took me longer than others, but I don't remember the time just flying by...Those stock plastic clips are a bitch!!

Next, it might've taken me and hour - 2hours just to get all of the yucky old adhesive off...I used 3 different wire brushes depending on how bad it was in certain areas, and then a liquid removal product which I don't remember what it was, but it made a mess!! YOU WILL RIP the headliner....It's a piece of cardboard basically!!

I taped everything up, made my mom hold the headliner while I sprayed adhesive in a very organized pattern, and layed it down smoothly....The install was kind of a pain also, but it eventually went in, minus a few missing clips and poor fitment....

IMO, a new, redone headliner looks 10x better than a car missing one....If you are selling it with a lot of mods and no radio/a.c/back seats, basically in 'race car' form or whatnot, then adding a headliner won't help get your more money...But, a CLEAN DSM needes a good headliner!!

Unfortunately, the process of buying and restoring a new one might run you more than the $100 you plan on getting, so its up to you and what kind of deals you can find, and what kind of money you are asking for the car

EDIT: And No OFFENSE TAKEN to the guy posted about noobish 16yo's...Altho I wouldn't consider any non turbo dsm fast :D

I got a leather headliner in my Laser along with no sun-visors. It's pretty awesome. I'll try and get some pics although it might be kind of hard to see.

ive done a few headliners... and one was for a non turbo i was selling... i got the clearance material at joann fabric(2.85 a square yard) and good adhesive.. my HL board required no prep at all.. i think it was redone with cheap glue that all came off on my old headliner material.. all the time was trim removal and replacement... i sold the car to a young guy who thought it was really quick(you have an obviously more broad understanding of the car world)... plus i am superman ;)
