Ok this is my first time buying a slave cyclinder for my talon... but im curious about the pricing. I called Autozone for a clutch slave cyclinder and they said they got one in stock? 13.99 for it with a 3 month warranty? So cheap. On green performance sells one for 60.00 on ebay. Kragen auto parts got one for 29.99? Whats the difference and would it really matter?

There are usually quality differences in generic parts when compared to the more expensive OEM parts. Certain things don't really matter and certain ones do. For example I wouldn't mind using an Autzone clutch cylinder on a stock car but I would never use anything but OEM on a car with a heavy pressure plate.

I hate Pep Boys, but they carry LUK parts, and for 45$ it's the best slave cylinder you'll find. I've taken apart the LUK and a couple of other aftermarket slave cylinders and the construction of the LUK slave cylinder was equal to OEM.

My original slave failed at about 180,000 miles. Unfortunately I was out of town and ending up putting in and AUTOZONE slave cyl. With the ACT 2600, it DIDN'T EVEN GET ME HOME. I'm not kidding.

If you have an ACT, get the OEM slave cyl.

The 2G slave is cheaper, and can be considered an upgrade for 1G cars with an ACT clutch.
ACK! Now you tell me. I just got a new 1G slave for $55 from my local Mitsu dealer who offers a club dsm discount. List price was $69.

No modifications are needed. The 2G slave uses a smaller piston than the 1G. This equates to less pedal travel for the same amount of movement of the slave rod. It will also make the pedal feel a little stiffer and shorten the engagement window. It comes in handy on ACT-equipped cars where you're almost out of master rod adjustment in the first place.

Now if you're using a twin-disk or something, you actually want the opposite. A bigger slave will stretch the already very short engagement window to something managable.

damit... I just bought my slave and clutch master cyclinder new from NAPA. ! year warranty on them both instead of the measy 3 months or 90 days. The dealer was asking way too much for both. 129.95 for the master and 85.99 for the slave. . So i decided to go whats cheaper with the better warranty. Now n days moneys tight. Thanks for your help guys.

Don't you guys ever look in the sponsor section before you order? I could have had it to you in 2 days and for half the price.
agree with u green. i get my stuff through rockville mitsubishi. 2 g slave is 40 dollars and master is 90. would never pay that much for a stock part. i ordered a tranny bearing kit and it was 230 dollars at rockville, and my local mitsu dealer wanted over 400 for the same thing.
