Today i saw and test drove a 98 Tsi awd with 30k on it. The only issue i had with the car was that he said the transmission was leaking by the driveshafts. His mechanic said it would cost about $700 to fix. He wasnt exactly sure what was wrong and i couldnt get under to take a look. Does anybody know what could possibly be wrong because i will most likely be doing the work myself if i buy it

Sounds like axle seals to me. You cant be sure though without actually looking at them. If it is them there real easy to fix. All you have to do is remove the axles, pop out the old seals, and put in the new ones. But someone you trust needs to look a it and clearify thats your problem.

Definately sounds like this. That is not a 700 dollar fix either. What type of price are you looking at for this car, that is a very low milage car, awd too which is a bonus. Manual or Auto? Also, does the car have any mods?

i will have it looked at before i buy, but i was going to make sure it wasnt something huge so i wouldnt be wasting my time. It only has 30k on it and he wants 10,500. Its stock other than a BOV, injen intake, excedy stage III clutch. Also how much would those seals cost and where is a cheap place to order them. Its manual....the only way to go

one more thing i forgot about, it has one of those gay rice blitz front bumpers that i want to get rid of right away. Where is the best place to get a 2gb front bumper cover from? he already has eclipse headlights on it cause of the blitz bumper. On ebay they were going for $80 for one primed plus $45 for shipping, is that the best deal on those?

That is a good deal, but you will have to get the 95-98 headlights for a Talon or 95-96 headlights for an Eclipse, otherwise you will have a gap.

Sounds like he allready has the 97+ eclipse lights if he has the blitz bumper with eclipse lights right ?
The 95-96 eclipse lights are the same as the 95-98 talon lights.
That is correct, the Blitz bumper uses the 97-99 Eclipse lights, but if he gets a 97-98 Talon bumper he will need the 95-96 Eclipse lights or 95-98 Talon lights.

In that case there are plenty of 97-99 Eclipse bumpers to be had, check ebay you can get them for practically nothing.
