wrong my boy just spent two hours trying to get one of the fucking axles out of the car and it wouldn't budge

he also said the thing broke off into 5 pieces before he put it back 2gher and gave up

so knowning this now am i going to look at paying a shop a shitload to do all that

a cv shaft doesnt break into 5 pieces if you do it correctly.

driver side cv shaft on an awd is bolted to the car, you must remove the 2 bolts on the intermediate shaft to pull it from the transmission, if its fwd there is no intermediate shaft. the passenger cv shaft does require some prying, but very little in the 5 cases ive done it to my 91 awd.

its simple..apparently whoever was doing yours didnt kno what they were doing  and it was in 5 pieces?..thats amazing..i get both mine out in probably less then 30mins including jacking the car up and removing the wheels..maybe my car just likes me

I can do my front axles in 30 minutes with all tools ready - and that's without power tools or a lift. Your "boy" didn't seem to know what he was doing.

yeah i also just found out since he done that i might have serious crankwalk

the car is probally going to be sold cheap cheap cheap

no idea why i bought it for a 1st car
removing the axles will not give you crankwalk..why do you think you have crankwalk?..unless he was beating on the crank pully like a mother fucker trying to brake your engine there is no reason youd have crankwalk from it...its called crankwalk..its the crank..not axlewalk

yea 1g axles under and hr start to finish....the only problem I could possibly see is being "rust welded" in the hub...crankwalk on a 6bolt is almost unheard of...you should keep your friend away from your car and send him back to his honda....

actually his a z24 / caprice with a corvy engine police spec with 13 grand more put into the caprice

he has worked on alot of cars but his learned alot bout dsm's i think he might of fucked up some where

because the klunking im hearing is comeing from the trans area

I'd be willing to bet the ring clips for the axle are not inside the tranny or intermediate shaft completely and are slipping, thus the clunk clunk. That will cause things to bend or break and not be fixable>j-yard hunting. Or he just didn't tight everything back up properly in the suspension. Be careful who works on your car.

mitsu is not a good first car.

It's common practice to be able to swap an axel/s in 30 min give or take if you know what you're doing and the car comes apart like it should  . I have more than once replaced a tranny from driving to driving in under 2 hours. But just last weekend it took me and another guy an hour to just one half shaft out because of rusty bolts. The axel nut's can become severly rusted and weld themselfs to the axel, only real solution is to drill, or torch it apart and regretfully end up wrecking you're wheel bearing's.

cv axles were split i had 3 different people look at them so i figured might aswell replace them because i had some high speed vibration and loud clicking turns.

also he said that everything down there was really loose so he tighted up everything on both sides.

the axles are gonna get done by a shop today and have them look a lil into the tranny issue

Did an axle job on my 90 last night. First time ever doing it, so it took me some time. got everything back togeather, but the bracket on the intermediate shaft wont go back where its suppose to. The axle is in the tranny, and the bolts are in the hold, but i have like a 1/4 gap of space from the bracket and the block, and the bolts are tight as hell.
Anyone ever run into this?

ive ran into that exact same issue everytime..as long as the axle is in the tranny and everything is bolted up as tight as possible..you should be fine atleast i have been..also when you tighten those two bolts do each a little at a time going back and fourth itll ease it in farther and you'll get the bracket a lot closer..i dont kno why it does that but it does..

check your ball joints, mine made a clucking noise just before it pulled out while i was in a corner.

I had something similar on my 2g... the boot cracked and it was a bitch to get everythin off
