hahaha...omg that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard....i guess if you just like how 2gs look it doesnt matter....but man are you going to be very very dissapointed with the performance!! why not look for a tsi or another gst?
:chair: Not nice! The dude has his reasons! Reliability is the goal, right? Non turbo DSM is quite reliable and gas friendly!

Actually, that would be a very smart thing, especially since hes looking for reliability and with a child on the way.. i just baught a n/t and im selling my turbo because i need the money and the n/t are more reliable which is what i need.. and if he wants to add acouple things for performance down the road he can..

Mainly when you get the car do a full tune up, plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter, fuel filter, change the oil of course and add some engine restore to the oil, add some injector cleaner to the tank and you should have a very good running and reliable car.. id also look at the timming belt to see what shape its in, but you prolly already no this stuff since its not ur first dsm ;)

so are you saying turbo dsms arnt as reliable as n/a? i can argue the opposite...after having both, my eclipse gs gave me many more headaches than my tsi, but then again, ALL DSMs break......i dont see why owning a turbo dsm over a n/a would make any difference with your family or growing up, it is the same car but slower and with a neon engine...they are only as expensive as you make it to be...if you want reliablity, dont mod it and beat it.....but whatever bro enjoy your new car...

I really wonder why you even bother clicking on the Non-turbo forum when nobody in here wants your "help"?

well seems how i owned one for almost four years, i know quite a bit about them.....when people ask inteligent questions, i can help....when they ask stupid questions with out searching, i dont....i dont go into nonturbo forums, i just click on active topics....by the way, what do you post that is so helpful? all you do is complain about turbo guys and tell everyone about your dreams of making your car fast...i looked through your posts and you provide no useful information except to tell other n/a guys to go to 2gnt.com....why dont you take your own advice.... :chair:

And that is the absolute most helpful thing I could ever tell them. Over there they can get help and info without haveing to be bothered by tools like you. Its funny though, I usually help and only defend us N/T guys when an ignorant turbo guy enters the picture with the "great help" of telling us to sell our cars... Amazing how each thread seems to turn into that. I have yet to see you "help" anyone, so next time you go to click on that "Non-turbo tech" forum, unless you plan on actually giving HELPFUL information, do us all a favor, and don't click on it.

good luck with the n/t, n/ts are great i have 3 dsms 2 n/ts and 1 turboed 1 of the n/ts gave me problems at first then everything worked fine for years and my other only had a tranny problem and my turbo eclipse has only had 10-15 miles on it in 8 months so smart decision.

lol...ok buddy.....

Stop bickering. Wow, this place has changed in the past few years (I had an old account before the forums went down). Negative :tree: for that.

98mitsgst - I've owned a couple turbo DSMs before getting my N/T I have now. It was probably the smartest thing I've done.. the reason was I moved into a different town and got a new full-time job where attendance is crucial, thus needing the reliability. Truth is though, any car can be an unreliable pile. My GST and GSX were mint and I truly think they would have never broken if I had just left them alone. It's a rarity but you could look for a 100% stock, unmolested, low-mile turbo DSM and simply keep up with the maintenance. If you think you'll still have a heavy foot then an N/T will be perfect, you can't really dish out abuse on a slow car :D Just remember than even a Toyota/Honda can break down every day, keep an eye out for something that's really been treated well.

Congrats and good luck with the new baby :)

YEA! any car can break down, it all depends on the maintance...and to tell ya the truth id rather keep a car that i know ive had for years other then sellin and buyin a new one not really knowing whats up with it and then you got a whole new set of problems!

Although i do dissagree with the statment " you can't really dish out abuse on a slow car ", theres plenty of ways to abuse any car... I am turbo AND also non turbo....i try not to be a walking hard on because i have a turbo...IMO that was a dumb remark!
