i have a 97 gsx intake and turbo xs rfl they say to put in washers to adjust the idle. the idle seems to be fine i dont have any washers in there right now and i put a boost gauge on and it reads 13-14 psi what do u think is wrong?

are you venting that RFL? (had to ask)
do you still have your OEM BOV? throw it back on real quick and take a look at your boost gauge. see if you still get those higher numbers.
it's rare that the T25 will boost to those levels on it's own, but i have heard of it before.

I was hitting 14 psi on my t25 with exhaust and intake.

BTW, that is the worst bov when it comes to performance. How do I know? Ive run it along with several others. Im not sure what your goals are but I thought I would let you know.

The worst bov when it comes to performance is the one that won't hold shut at the boost levels you run. Besides that they are all pretty much the same functionally.

It is not unheard of to see boost levels like that on a T25 if it has any breathing mods done to it.

If you think it is leaking do a boost leak test and see if there is air coming out of the discharge hose.

My RFL must have been faulty then. The piston held pressure but the mounting kit was absolute crap. It wouldnt hold more than 5 psi. I eventually had it welded together as one piece to stop the leaks.

Are you using the turboXS mounting kit (allen screws to tighten and o-rings meant to prevent leaking).

I made my own flange and welded the RFL "flange" and just put the RFL on and it held awsome.

it's bad cuz it's a piston type bov...also i belive you can ONLY vent that particular one
What kinkd of BOV is a Tial then????? and yes you can only vent the RFL.

i really dont think there is enything wrong with ur car. i have a 97 gsx too with a injen intake, crappy pos plastic bov, and still have the t25 and i hold 14psi all the way to redline in every gear.

really? I could only hold 12psi on that pos

the reason the rfl is so loud is because it is vented. I have a turboXS type H i think and I made my own flange because the mounting kits blows. Im hitting 18 lbs with I think 4 washers in it,maybe 5.

That BOV is crap from what i've seen. They tend to get stuck open, the mounting system leaks, and if you put enough washers in it to hold decent boost it tends to not open very well except for full boost conditions which causes surging. Plus, the o-rings dry out and crack really fast.
