Well I have been trying to figure this out but I can't so I need some help from the dsm gods. I can acclerate great and everything but as soon as I go to shift or if I let off the gas it pops and sputters for a sec every single time. It does the same when I am accelerating but just when i first touch the gas and only for a sec. It doesent seem to be affecting performance at all like the car doesent bog, cut out or shake when it happens (if I didn't hear it I would have no idea its happening), it is basically more embarrasing than anything.

I have recently notaced that if i hold my foot on the gas just enough that i am still decelerating it will pop and sputter for the whole time i hold my foot there.

ahmen! :tree: :D

Check your thottle position sensor to make sure it is adjusted correctly. You can do this with a logger, or with a multimeter. I believe you can find instructions to do this in the VFAQ.

Do you have your BOV recirculated?

Check your timing.
you could also be runnig way to ritch and when you let of the gas you allowing unbernt gas into the exaust manifold.

can you try to explane it beture.
is it makeing the motor sputter. and hesitate or is it an exuase sound.

shouldn't it be at zero at idle or is it just me that thinks that

my ignition timing is at 5* of advance.

Yesterday i leaned leaned the car out a bit (-5% on 450's) and i think it got better. Maybe that points towards exaust leaks?

Like I stated in my first post it doent affect performance at all it just makes noise. I wouldent even know its happening if i didn't even hear it.

I got only one boost leak (throttle body shaft seal) but it has leaked way before this started happening.

When I put the head back together i used arp's and i had to remove the exaust mani stud closest to the power stearing pump to get the head to slide down. So I am missing that one stud but the rest of the mani is sealed tight with a brand new mitsu gasket on the head side and the turbo side. Also When I first bought the car the bolt was missing on the same stud and like i said it never did this before the head rebuild.

I was told to "boost test" the exaust to find any leaks but how exactly would I go about this? Or is there a better way to check?

On a turbo motor there are only a few places you can "exhaust leak" and have it be an issue. Because remember, "no exhaust is the best exhaust". Check bolts and gaskets at the head, as well as for cracks in the manny and turbine housing. But if nothing has effected performance i don't think it's exhaust.

Have you run any logs and pulled any #'s to see what timing is doing at partial throttle?
