my car sounds really loud on spool and only hits lik 2 psi(stock boost gauge) and it feels lik im running slower than n/a. took off the intake and the little fan thing jiggles with the srewdriver. i didnt measure it at the time because i didnt know what i was looking for.

if it helps this is what i need to on matenance:
change oil
replace plugs
new air filter
replace valve cover gasket
maybe new o2 sensor

and it has about 150k on it

sorry didnt really ask a question. do i have to get a new turbo, do a rebuild or try and do boost leak test or could there be a worn gasket?

i dont really have any money so how much would a rebuild or a turbo from a pick and pull cost?

it sounds like you blew tht turbo, well if you want to keep the stock boost levels then keep that turbo and rebuild it, but if you're looking to upgrade, now is ur excuse(gf or wife)lol, i honestly dont think its a gasket, and just the fact that you can jiggle your compressor means tht turbo is doomed

It's not really ok to drive on a blown turbo.
I've never paid to have a turbo rebuilt, but I would guess somewhere between $200 and $300. Finding a good turbo in the junkyard is next to impossible; at least where I live. You could find a used stock turbo on ebay for $100 to $150; but you have to make sure to pay special attention to the description and feedback. Getting a used turbo is risky.

i was looking on ebay and found a rebuild kit for $90 shipped. would be able to do the work myself?
Doubtful. Even if you could, you wouldn't want to, because the compressor wheel blades are chopped up and ground down, and the balance is way off by now. If you do put in the rebuild kit, i predict you will get a 1 week period of some boost, but by then it will have killed the new bearings, and you will be back at square one.

Get a new turbo or a known good used one.

One thing I wanted to clarify. The stock boost gauge does not measure boost. It is a guess of boost level that the ecu makes based on a bunch of parameters. This is way we like real aftermarket boost gauges.

One more data point for you, I bought a used 14B of ebay to replace my blown stock for 120$. If has worked o.k. for about 15k miles; however I would not trust it running more than stock boost.

alright so im looking to go pick up a 14b tomorrow morning. i know what to check for to see if its good or not but i need to know how Im supposed to flush it with clean oil? What else is there to do besides flush the coolant and change the oil when I install it?

The install is simple. There really isn't a way that I know of to "flush" the turbo. Just pick up a used one, shouldn't be more than $100, make sure there is no shaft play, and change your oil.

Also, make sure your oil feed line is letting enough oil through.

and one more question. I went to the junkyard today and the owner said he had turbo. I told him even though it was a talon it fit my car but he still wanted to look at my car. So he comes looks at my car then proceeds to tell me that the turbo he has on the back of the engine and that my car was had an add on. So then Im like wtf??? Ive never seen or heard of a turbo in the back of any car. So then I left because I was mad.

So what was this guy talking about? Keep in mind the yards out here the workers go get the parts not me so I didnt see the car.

Perhaps he was talking about a turbo mounted on the firewall side of the engine, a setup like SRT-4's and such have.

Just go to the front counter, and say you'd like to have a look at their DSM's. They'll usually let you go and pick the part yourself, and it's usually cheaper.

EVOs also have the turbo in the back of the engine bay
