And to my surprise my car has 0 counts of knock on 10lbs of boost with the mods in my sig! Its kind of surprising because the front motor mount is totally shot and when I did the 2-3-4 shift I heard a loud THUD but still no knock!

It sounds too good to be true.. the car idle surges like crazy..it has not been pressure tested as of yet either

I wound out 3rd gear to 6200rpms with not a sign of detonation! Injector duty cycle was hovering in the low 90% range. The temperature was in the lower 40's and I was on 93 pump gas. o2 sensor was showing .83v throughout the run.

The only thing thats kind of making me raise an eyebrow is the fact that when I went WOT in 2nd gear, I got 19 deg of timing and it advanced to a max of 22. 3rd gear was the same story. Shouldn't I be seeing around 27-28 degrees of timing near redline? I know the 90 ECU's dont advance timing as generously as the 91+'s but it still seems a little low to me..hmm..

Final question. What would happen if the knock sensor was not screwed into the block? Or if the connector is not plugged up? does the car go into a 'safe' mode?

Thanks for reading...

Id say congrats? If the knock sensor was bad or screwed out or something it would throw a CEL. But the 90 ecu just may not be advancing the timing as generously as the later models like you stated. I wouldn't complain too much about no knock, remember every car responds differently.

Nomie sounds normal to me.....You shouldnt see timing any more advanced than that up top, 27* at redline seems way too high anyway, thats when you'd probably run into knock problems...

10psi is nothing, I dont see why there would be any issues of running into knock problems yet.....Especially with the walbro already on, I think you should be fine for a while, altho the INJD was a tad high....

Just go back under the Intake Manifold and see if you can locate the knock sensor....Altho I dont think thats your problem

Thanks for the replies guys...

Ive had a knock sensor go bad before where it became oversensitive, but it didn't throw a CEL. Are you sure the KS will throw a CEL if it is unplugged? How does timing get managed in that case(if the sensor is unplugged)?

I guess I have somewhat of a knock paranoia..my old car on 10lbs had 38 counts of knock with injector insulators leaking like hell...

Im going to check to see if everything is secured properly..then its time for some 87 octane!! :D I want to induce knock to make sure I dont have a faulty knock sensor..yes I am crazy.:p

I have knock paranoia as well....My car has been a knock freak ever since I started reading logs and trying to notice.....From my 43 counts of phantom knock phenomenom, to my current untracable/unstoppable top end knock, its been a part of this car way too long, and I always expect it to be there....Ya, I get nervous when I dont see it also ha

If you dont plan on draining the 87 octane after the test, just use it all up daily driving, then throw in some race gas for a while until your sure its out of the system...Immediately switching back to 93 octane might cause a 87-93 mixture which will be much more prone to knock
