I just purchased a brand new evo 3 big 16g from turbochargers.com I've been treating this thing like a baby since I got the turbo, around 220 miles are on the turbo, and I was going to preform a boost leak test adn When I pull off my intake, Their was a little tiny pool of oil in the inlet of the turbo. Right before the turbing on the Intake side. What dose this mean, Is it about to go out? What do I do!!!?!??!?!

You're having this problem again? Isn't this like the 3rd or 4th Turbo since you've had that car? Where is your oil feed coming from? If it is the stock location it may be too much pressure for the 14b/16g because the 1g's were fed off the head...you may need to put a restrictor in the feed line to cut back on the oil pressure that's getting to your turbo...

Is turbochargers.com going to do anything about it, or are you going to have to buy another turbo? If you have to buy another turbo I suggest Forced Performance, I've heard amazing things about them.

On another note, if the oil feed is coming off the filter housing, I would try to restrict it...the 4G63 in my experience has rather high oil pressure and coming off the filter housing may be simply too much pressure for the 16g and you may need to restrict the oil pressure on the feed line so it doesn't force too much oil into the turbo.

Another thing I suggest checking is your return line, check to make sure it's not plugged in any way, and flows freely. If there is any obstructions in the oil return, it will slow down the rate at which oil can leave the turbo, and the feed would keep pumping it in, it would basically force the oil to make a new route out of the turbo...

Good luck man, I know how frustrated you prolly are...

Well, I pulled off my J pipe comming off the turbo. No oil. I pulled off my hose going from the bov to the throttle body...OIL OIL OIL, then i checked the hose under the J pipe. Oil. I'm guessing I have a hole/leak somewhere in my intercooler. *side mount* and its filled with oil. I also am going to take your advice for the oil filer housing. P.S. you have msn or email? I don't really get on dsm talk to much. But I tend to neglect my posts for a week or so. But Tonight i'm pulling off my Intercooler to see if I have a Hole and to see if theirs oil in it. It would explaine why their not oil on the fins and or anywhere else on the inlet, Just a little pool from it going from the bov to my intake hose to the bottom of the turbo. I guess i'm going to be cleaning everything up tonight. Also i'm goign to check out turbochargers.com to see if i have a warrenty since its a MHI turbo and all. Who knows! I hope this is my problem, I would be soo happy and relived instead of buying another 500$+ turbo!

Why should the PCV have anything to do with it?

And their isn't any oil or any trace of oil where the j pipe meets the turbo....just around where the intercooler is and to the throttle body.

Once again. Its had a REAL blown turbo in it that probably threw tons of oil in the intercooler...

Hence....DSM owns me.

The pcv puts blowby back to your intake. SO you're going to have oil in there and throughout the tubings to your intercooler. This is why people use a catch can to keep their intercooler clean.

Like Frenchy said, you need a catch can! I had the same ptoblem till the catch can was installed
S.T.

I have a catch can. This isn't a stock car dogs! =) Like I said. I'm sure its just pooling oil from the last 2 turbo's being blown.

1.) Becuase it was a EVO GT turbo POS

2.) It was a 16 year old 14b lmao!!!!

But its not shooting oil into the exhaust so. ^__^ I'm sure thats what teh problem is. Also I'm sure I have a hole in my intercooler from it. Boostleak studders and shit. :wall:

Oil on the intake side is usually due to a recirculated PCV. How do you have your catch can hooked up exactly? Do you have any plumbing from the valvecover going into the intake pipe?

Negative, The catch can is positioned right behind my battery on teh firewalzorz.

Not the block, the valvecover. Are you missing something?

No, Nothing is going from by valve cover to my intake. like I said. Catch can. And its not the turbo seals. turbo is clean of oil.n oil in my exhuast.

I pulled off my intercooler and it was fucken full of oil. And I had a huge connection problem from the intercooler to the throttle body hose. *one that gose under fuese box* So hopefully, I'll clean this up. Test my stuff, And WHALA????

If you have never cleaned the IC before, that's your problem. It has oil left in it from when the VC was dumping back to the intake.

LOL at rippin insisting on the valve cover. Dude swears it ain't from there though? Could it be the turbo indeed? We can't really check for you. Clean everything real good just to make sure it's no left over. Take the car out give it a nice 30 minute push. Open back up. If oil is in there and theres nothing redirecting inside the intake... then, it HAS to be the turbo. Unless you have a pool of oil where your air filter is :)
