Can I just disconnect the driveshaft and rearend and set it up like a fwd if I use a fwd transmission and turn the awd car into a fwd?
Stupid thread but can you run fwd in awd?

Sorry didnt notice the fwd tranny part. Why would you want to do that????? Do you not like traction???

I usually ask these questions but the thing is I found me a clean 1g awd shell for 300 dollars. Know I am on a budget build and have spent about 1500 so far on my so to speak "race car". I cannot afford a awd tranny driveshaft and reared or should I say the one that I want, plus this is a 91 which means 3 bolt. I have a fwd tranny with lsd and thats what I am going with because well like I said I cannot afford the awd I want. Gotta work with what you can on a 5.50 an hour budget and in high school. I am almost finished with my engine just lacking certain parts to bolt it all together and the 91 was really clean.Pics might help better.
Now there is more but I do not want to waste server space, lol but I have everything down to dsmlink and 680cc injectors. I just buy deals as I see them and everything you see has not cost me more than 1500 including injectors full fmic and piping etc. i saw this and by the time it is done I do not plan to have more than 3 grand in this including the car.

Get a VCE from Slowboy racing. I got one for my local dyno, since it's not an AWD dyno. That'll do what you need.
Hey not to get way off topic but hows that 6 puck solid clutch work out? i have one here i'm debating putting in but not a big fan of a chattery clutch.I'm using a 6 puck with springs in the middle now and have broke the springs on 2 discs.
Back on Topic i ran my AWD car in FWD for quite a while with the AWD trans but it had a spool in the center diff. Just pull the driveshaft out and go. If you pull the rear CV axles cap the holes in the sides of the diff to keep dirt out. You gotta leave at least the empty rear diff housing in to hold the suspension together. ( what a retarded setup)

that clutch worked great for being an ebay one, the only reason you see it dissasembled like that is because the last block spun a bearing and was buring oil. I always heard that slipping the clutch was hard with these 6 pucks but it never saw any problems. Thanks for the opinions guys.racerx55 said:

My friend ran his 92 Laser RS in FWD for most of the life of his car. He blew his AWD trans and transfer case, but like you had an FWD trans lying around. He left his rear diff in place, and put the trans in and it work great. The car was an AutoX terror because of the AWD Rear suspension as opposed to the live rear setup that the 1G FWDs have.
You will obviously need an FWD flywheel and possibly FWD axles as well, unless of course the AWD front axles are an upgrade.

my '90 Galant GS-X is currently running a fwd trans. The AWD trans/Xfercase and front-rear drive shaft is sitting in my garage. 3bolt rear end is still on the car and I have had no problems with the car.
