I dis agreed with jl so much... I pop those things like mad.... God with 2 12" audioban subwoofers or 2 12" alphine type x Owned bought yes it's like 900$ PER SUBWOOFER but it's worth it.

AND DON"T GO CHEAP ON AMP OR WIRING KIT

I have been into loud cars for a long time. From what I have heard the fosgate t'2 are vicious. They are the best I have heard hands down.

don't believe i went thru this whole thread but i was iching to see if anyone mentioned anything about the voice coil on the sub. No one mention that if a subwoofer had a poorly designed voice coil, then the sound produced will not be a good as you may hope for. Since i have gone this far i figure i might as well post my thoughts on this matter. Subwoofers are made to reproduce sound. turning electrical energy into sound energy. I have no idea why one person would say that the box is not important as the amp. Or the sub makes no difference as long as the box is good and the power is there. I saw the phrase "the system is only as good as its weakest link" repeated time and time again. It is not hard to understand. If you have a "weak" sub with a perfect built box and a powerful amp. The sound will be good to a certin point. Eg: the max power the "cheap" sub can handle. Then after that it is crap. In the reverse- a "good" subwoofer with an untuned box and a weak amp will also make noise. but the noise will be trash once the amp reaches its limits. Sound is nothing but moving air. The more air you can move, the more sound is produced. Thats just the general idea.

There are also differnt types of sound systems either Sound Quality (SQ) or Sound Pressure Level (SPL) Most people go for SQ.
SQ= clean clear bass
SPL= Hardcore high pressure bass levels (usually at low tones)

On another note. there are reason why subwoofers price range vary so much. Material, built quality, and research on each sub varys.

ALL IN ALL, CAN'T WE AGREE THAT EACH PART IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE OTHER?

What do you want for bass , As loud as possible , or are you going for SQ
What do you listen to most of the time.
Is this for you , Or Comp.
Anwser these Questions for me , And i can further assist =)

This is going in ur DSM i assume? You would be surprised what 1 12' can do in a dsm

RE audio also makes amazing subs i actually switched from Jl audio W7's to 2 15" RE audio MT series subs.

I had this one street machine subwoofer... it was only a 10 it rocked harder then most sets of 12's my buddies had.... that little 10" subwoofer was a legend...

Anways.. haha....

I bought a pair of 12s that were Duals... they completely sucked...

Now I have a pair of Visoniks. They hit hard sound good.. and sound alot better then most subs i've heard.
