the gas tanks are different between all 3 (gsx, gst, spyder). from what Ive read, a gst conversion requires MAJOR customizing to the undercarrige for the gas tank and drive shafts, where as a spyder awd conversion is not that involved in customizing.
My comments weren't related to the coupe, only to the spyder. Also, I suppose I should have thrown in the fact that there weren't really any differences of consequence between the two. Also, the gas tank is part of the swap. As are driveshafts and such.

damn after eading the thread idk if i wanna do it anymore. im picking up a 95 at gsx with blown motor i was gonna do the swap to my 97 5 spd gst. but know i may just find a motor for the gsx

u should do the swap its not that hard the hardest part it drillin the holes and cuttin gst gastank mounts off then u just bolt everything up and rewire the fuel pump. im still doing the swap right now i have the rear end done so far all i have to do now is swap tranies and weld some bolts to hold the axle in place like the awd i have a 97 gst and a parts 2g talon awd i can send u some pics if u want my email is josefinas@sbcglobal.net

Make sure you take notes and pics of each step that way when your done you can do a writeup for vfaq for everyone to enjoy.

I'm in the process of the swap right now. It's not very difficult at all - just time consuming.

If you had all the nessacery tools and parts, you could easily get this done in 3-6 days.

If anyone has any specific questions about it, ask away.

Good luck man. Your car will be so much more fun from the launch once you get it finished. Maybe someday I'll do the same to my fwd if I get sick enough of crappy street launches on street tires. Ive allways thought rwd would be cool though. Fun for sliding the car and goofing around. A little more difficult to fab though.

yes, I would love to have RWD as well. If it weren't for the cost difference, I would have went that route.

I wonder if it would be possible to convert a 2GN/T to a 2G AWD turbo.

and keep all the badging

and the nonexistent insurance

hehe.

a lot more fabbing to fit the 4g63 there though.

Its been done. Its also been done in 420a avenger's.
There's a guy on here with it done.
silver coupe something or other. Nice guy too.

I thought about doing this about a billion times.
For all that work I want to do something fun instead.
Something... oh say 2000lbs... like a mirage. ;)
Then all that work would be worth it.
Drop a 2.4l in... awd... hmm... easy 10-11 second car.
It wouldn't even have to be a dedicated race car to do it either.
