I recently bought a 2g eprom ecu, got it resocketed and now I just installed the dsmlink chip in it and installed it as well as performed the clutch cut wire install, and switched wires 1 with 2 and 3 with 4. After turning the key to the on position, I hear a bunch of clicking and the car will not start, it just keeps turning over.

Just went out there again to try it, still no start althought its not clicking anymore just turning over. Could it be the ecu? Im not sure if it is or not because I still dont know if I need to upload any maps before the car will run using link. Please anyone with link I need some input!

Wow that does nothing.

:p

Yeah, make sure the chip is in correctly #1.
Make sure your coil pack is plugged in. (if you were screwing with it)
Switch wires according to what oldman said his post.

Pray to Christ your ecu isn't hack jobbed.
Mine was, KMans was...
:(

If so, send to Dave Mertz.
He'll fix it.

When u turn the Key to the ON , position , Does a CEL light come on for about 5seconds then shut off? If so , ur ECU is probably fine

You have to switch wires on the coil packs. There are two of them , Other then that it dosn't really matter. As long as u switch coil packs.

And what kinda of motor do u have.

I took the ecu back out to look at it. The chip is installed correctly. Coil pack is fine. Wires are swiched correctly. I have a stock 7bolt motor. On the eprom ecu it looks to me like one of the tubes connected to it is leaking a small bit. I will post pics tomorrow when I can find my digital camera, still not sure if that could be the problem or not. What Im mostly leaning towards is that the USB to DB9 translator im using isnt working. I might need to return it and buy a Keyspan one (seems like people have good luck with that one and problems with others) because dsmlink once everythings plugged in and running (well at least the dsmlink program and car to on position) nothing happens. Its as if the computer doesnt read that its being plugged into my ecu. Tomorrow I will return this adaptor for the keyspan one, and aslo post pics of the small leak on one of those tubes (sorry dont know what their called) in the eprom ecu. Thanks for anyones help with this.

As for the CEL, my CEL has been always been on because of running my car with the downpipe off driving it to a garage to get it cut and welded (the evo3 o2 housing is a slightly dif. angle than my stock 2g). So yes the CEL still stays on, but it did before so I cant really check to see if thats the problem.

After unplugging the ECU the code of the O2 sensor would be cleared. Since the engine hasn't started you shouldn't have triggered it. So when you turn the ignition switch on the CEL should come on for 5 seconds and go out. If it doesn't then the ECU isn't working correctly. Check it again when you plug in the connectors. All you have to do is turn on the ignition, not try and start the car.
