I have no idea what to splice into...I have an orange wire and a red wire. Orange is suppose to be the one that goes into the 12V that stays on while starting....But where do I find a wire to splice into for that? I'm an idiot when it comes to wiring electronics. Pics would be awesome! Please help.

Oh can I hook the red wire directly to my car battery?

This is what I did, mabye it will help you out. I have FOUR gauges, 2 in the pillar 2 in the ac bezel. All of my Red wires, which are power wires, i connect together on one main wire a 10 gauge. Then i bought a power on/off switch and two little female clips that clip onto the prongs of the switch. The 10 gauge power wire runs into one of the female clips, and another 10 gauge wire runs from the other female clip straight to the battery. All of the ground wires had the same thing, except grounded to the nearest ground/screw point I found that was hidden. Now Instead of splicing something I can turn on all my lights together, I also put my el glows on the same wire.

As for the elecrical boost gauge I have no idea how to install one, should have gotten one with the vacuum line on it, alot easier. The oil pressure gauge and the AF gauge i dont know how to install on your 2G only a 1G.

A good 12V wire to splice though is the one in your dash area that turns your gauge cluster lights on, that way when you flip your headlights on your gauges come on as well. My friend did it but id have to ask him how to do it.

Another way you can turn your gauges on is to loook up what wire is the ignition wire for the head unit, that way you can still have your gauges on and working in the daytime if you dont want to turn your lights on. Helps for me espically since I got black faced gauges.

I have these Prosport gauges sitting in front of me waiting for a car to install them on (haha)

But it looks like I also have a red/black for ground and power like any other gauge Ive installed, and then orange wire for power...(?)

Can't I just install both to some 12v wire in the car? I had 4 gauges in my last 1g, and I installed all of the powers to the accesory fuse and then some to the cig. lighter 12v source...My wideband was connected to somewhere similar as well

When I install these prosports, can't I just do the same thing? Theres a orange and Red power wire as well, I don't feel like running a wire to the battery btw since I have it relocated to the back of my trunk and it will look messy anyway

between orange and red, one will be the light, the other will be the power that you only need to have come on when the car is on. if you're unsure which is which, you can try them straight onto the battery. one will do nothing, the other will make the light come on.

the radio is a great option. not only will you be on a circuit that's already fused (you still need to fuse just for the gauges), but you won't have to dig around deciding which wire to tap.

the other wire you can tap into your headlight circuit - some radios even have an illumination wire to dim the radio when the lights are turned on. This way the gauges only light up when you turn the lights on, and you don't have to worry about switches or anything. If you want the lights to always be on, you can tap into the same source at the radio. Ignition just means that it's only on when the car is on (otherwise you'll drain your battery).

Usually on monitoring type gauges it goes like this.

White - illumination signal from side markers.
Red - Constant battery feed
Orange - 12 volt switched feed
Black - ground

Usually on a boost gauge (unless its electronic, then it follows same as above) it just has maybe 2 powers and a ground. Ive seen several gauges that had green and amber lights in them and there was a green wire and a yellow wire that you could choose which color to make them.

And on the 93 Talon I did gauges in, I just used a male flat fuse type crimp on connector and used one of the switched fuses in the fusebox that wasnt being used to power the gauges switched. Then I used another one for the constant. And for the sidemarkers I just tapped into the sidemarkers fuse down there and ran a fused wire from the live side in the fuseblock.
