My buddy is having a 7 bolt stroker built for his 91 GVR4 and we are wondering what would be a good 650whp turbo on race gas or ethonol. He wants something that will make power up to 8000-9000rpm. Im not sure what rpm's the crower springs can handle if anyone knows? He is also staying with the mitsu mani.

Specs.
7 Bolt 4g63t, 4G64 crank
Eagle Rods
Wiseco Pistons
Ported head, stainless valves, crower springs/retainers, FFWD 280/280 cams
Full race tranny with devo tuning/quatermaster twin disc clutch and flywheel
dsmlink
1000cc-1600cc injectors
FMIC/ meth injection or e85 fuel

Heres what we are looking at
fp3575
pte6152e dbb(very good price at slowboy for this one)
bullseye borgwarner s300
bullseye 35r

Do not buy from slowboy try to avoid them. They take your money even though they don't have it in stock and they don't tell you.

Dude that wasnt my damn question. I know people over there and have bought from them for a long time. I have also had my problems there too. Thats why you always call ahead and make sure its in stock.

lol. they lie. I called ahead of time and they told me they had FMIC in stock. Call back a week later to see if they had shipped it(did not get tracking number) and they told me they had not begun to make it. I got it a month and a half later. :puke:

About your topic, reving a 2.3 to 8k or 9k will cause damage. Like latdsm said the angle of the rods will cause damage to your block.

I wouldn't push that 2.3 stroker in the 8-9k range...the 4g64 crank and the angle on the rods will not be able to cope with that.
My mechanic takes his 6bolt 2.3L to 8k all day. He also takes his 4g64 2.4 to 9k all day. He said it can handle it and I believe him since his do it.

That also wasnt that question. Come on guys any one going to answer it??

The motor most likely wont go past 8k rpm to much. But he may on the strip. The guy building it said it can do it but he would stay under 8krpm to be on the safe side.

We where thinking about the hx45 but would that outperform the FP3575. What would be a better choice.

why would you want to rev your car past its peak power point.my stroker made peak power at 7900 rpm.yea it revs to 9k but why if its not doing anything at that rpm.I have the shift light @ 7500 so by the time i shift im at 7900.

Is this turbo available in mitsu flange?
...its a garrett so I'm going to say no. But you can always reflange to make the thing fit:burnout:

I was mistaken (went by memory) on the peak HP, its only 600, not 650...anyway, heres a link to its compressor map and some pics

as for 'peak' power, im quite uninformed as to the operation of you guy's engines (but im learning!) but this peak power thing seems quite odd since thats just a matter of cam profile and head efficiency. you DSM'ers have an aftermarket cam selection right?

Yea we do, they make crazy cams for our cars. He is running 280's and should have power up to 8k that was the whole point.

But we decided to go with a FP3575, found a good deal.

I figured there would be crazy cams, i just meant that if the man wanted to rev 9k, he could just re-cam, and not be limited to that 8k 'peak'

The problem is getting a turbo that will breath that high with the stroker. The stroker makes a upgraded cam like a stocker. They need huge cams to breath that high.

Good job on the turbo choice, awesome turbo, but just for reference...They do make a GT3582r with a Mitsu housing.....Would've fit the goals nicely, but hey, can't go wrong with a 3575...

ooooh...thanks for tellin! uhhh, who is 'they' and where can i get one?? heh, im considering being lazy and adapting my 8v mitsu flanged exhaust manifold onto a 16v exhaust flange since the thing is easily good for 400+hp and with porting is even better...
