im in no way against link-but its easier to go that way if you already have eprom-at this point for me,its a 6-700 mod after finding an eprom and hoping its good, and after just shelling out 1500 for TRE a trans and another 600 for parts related to switching the trans,im spent-i will keep my eyes peeled because the AFC is somewhat of a caveman tool-but the AFC has been tuning 12 and 11 second cars for close to 10 years now
I understand where you're coming from.
But if you got your hands on one you surely wouldn't regret it.
I believe the learning curve is much more easily mastered
considering everything is laid out in front of you.

Not to mention your car will be safer, and capable of being faster.

The flip side of that coin is simply, you just spent all the money.
Wouldn't you rather spend 600 and keep it a little longer?
(not doubting your tuning skills on an afc)
But its much easier to get a better tune.

i have the evo turbo, fmic, exhaust, new engine so far. so any suggestions on what to change would b appreciated. i would like to stick with 550-650 max injectors though. i want it to be a daily driver, somewhat. just in case i have any emergencies. haha..

im heavily considering the link swap-considering i can get $100 and change for my AFC,and motoguys garage i can get $100 core on my ECU,they sell 90 eproms for 350(want to be guarenteed i get a good one)so im looking at 150 for the ecu then 4-5 for link, not a bad idea

I'm thinking you're going to need every lick of power that evoIII makes to reach your goal without dropping weight off of the car.

I would go 650's and 2600.
And possibly link instead.

If you want better gas mileage, tuning any size injectors to idle
and basically ACT as 450's is simple.
You will have the best street tune on Link.
Allowing you to use 950's if you want, with no change in gas mileage.

Not to mention, if you lean the whole car down under boost.
Say even 11/1 Or 11.5/1 you will make more power and have even better
gas mileage.

Better than stock.

thanks guys. but im not looking to grow any more past what my setup is. i just want to hit it and quit. if you know what i mean. haha. but basicly. i just want to break 11 and be done with it. i know i have achieved my goal if i did. so what injectors would you guys recommend just to hit the 11 mark?

Hey how you doing...Welcome to my world

I am in the process of building a New Talon as my 12 second 91awd was destroyed a couple months ago...

My ultimate goal switched from wanting a Mid 12 second car, to an 11.99 second daily driver one night, and I am very confident with my setup and my driving/tuning abilities I can hit my marker...

Mods:
- STOCK 6bolt w/ NEW valvejob, piston rings, etc
- ARP Head Studs, MLS headgasket
- EvoIII 16g (minor Portwork), EvoIII manifold, Ported 2g o2 housing
- Spec Stage III Clutch (great alternative to ACT)
- FP1i/FP2e Cams
- ETS FMIC w/ 2.5" short route piping & crushed 1g bov
- Buschur 3" Open Downpipe (not gonna run a catback)
- 560cc Injectors/Walbro 255 re-wired
- SAFC/AEM UEGO/logger/91' chipped Eprom
- 2g Maf w/ Open Filter & 3" Intake
- NO A/C, Emissions, CC, ABS, Rear seats, Power windows, Spare tire/tools
- Battery Relocation, 14lb 17x7 wheels on Falken Tires, etc

This is just the basics, there's a lot more obvious things I didn't mention (mbc, etc)....I will be running 20psi daily and 22-25psi at the track with 100/110 octane...

I am extremely confident in my setup...I built the car this way to show people that you CAN run 11's on a 16g, even tho most people end up swapping over to 50trims and whatnot when they break into the 12's...

I will tell you, tuning and driving is everything...On my old setup minus a lot of these parts, I was cutting 1.7's on the stock clutch and also trapping 110+ every single run....

Read up on the forums about tuning...On pump I tune for 11.0 a/f, on race gas I usually am lenient but never over 11.5 a/f with 22+psi....

Good luck with your goals, hopefully I will see you in the 11's right after me ;)

I know this thread is a little old but you guys are making it sound pretty easy to hit my goal of 11's on my setup. We will see preety soon when I finish putting it back together(anybody want to help):dunno:

Here are the mods:
Buschur 3" turboback (no cat)
Buschur o2 housing
SBR exhaust manifold
Turbonetics external gate on #1 exhaust runner
SBR g-50
SBR 3500 clutch
Buschur fmic kit
Dsmlink
PTE 1000cc injectors
Cometic head gasket
ARP head studs
ACT xact flywheel
Aeromotive fpr
Walbro 255 pump
AEM wideband
MAFT and gm 3" maf
Forced Performance fp2 cams
Rear of the car gutted, no headliner, no washer bottles, no a/c

Any well supported / tuned 16g setup should hit 11's on race gas with good tuning.

Same with 50 trims. Doing it on pump is just much cooler:cool:

Are you good with tuning dsmlink? IMO that will make or break it, as it is very tricky for new owners, especially with maf-t.

I don't think I will have a problem with it considering my friend is going to be here just in case I have questions. I am going to do the tuning and if he watches me do something wrong or that could be done better he will tell me.

He tuned his car by the way and ran 10.96@129. On that pass he spun all the way through first and second and his clutch started to slip in third gear and slipped bad in fourth. with tires on his car and a new clutch I am sure he can pull a 10.3 or so.

Yes you have an 11 second setup, mid 11's if you tune it agressive and run race gas, altho theres still the possibility of doing it on pump

Its all about driving and tuning

Just make sure you read the DSMlink wiki on "gm maft calibration". Without your GM maf calibrated right, the car won't run to it's fullest. trust me on that one  Getting a basic tune down is pretty simple, but one for an 11 second pass takes a good amount of tuning (assuming this on the street)

This car will only be running on c16 race gas also.

1st off, save your money for DSMlink. That way If you make any other modification in the future, (and I assume you will) you'll already have the equipment to re-tune your new Mods. Otherwise you'll keep spending money on piggy back systems, and they'll still never work as good as DSMlink.

I personally think most people over do it with injector sizes.
I still have FIC560's (Shhhhhh quiet), and I'm around 78% IDC. I run 11.8s and trap 117mph and STILL have more injector to use if I want it. I say try to run what you have 1st, and then think about upgrading to a larger injector. DSMlink will tell you how hard your injectors are working so thats another reason to go with LINK.

You will surely need to upgrade from a act2100. I have a act2600 and I can consistently make 1.7 60fts (for now). Last Friday I pulled a 1.69. I HAD a fresh act2600 about 12 passes ago (not sure how much longer it will last) and even with it brand new it dosent like 1.7 60's ...I smell burnt clutch every pass, and I don't slip it off the line at all.

....hope that help:cool:
