how hard is it? any special tools required? what to shops normally charge to do this? i can probably do it i think..hell i've installed the motor, changed the tranny, and rear end in my stang but i don't have much experience with FWD cars

aslo for the atlanta guys could u guys recommend some good places that do good work..thanks

I have yet to do it myself, but I can offer you the price. I had to pay 397 to have mine done, but I also had my balancer belt changed. So somewhere around 400, a little less.

its not to bad. it takes time, although after my 5th time in about 5000 miles (other things going wrong with car and upgrades that required head off) it takes me about 2 hours from start to finish (although I only have the alternator belt on..no PS or AC).

The hardest part, that I hate, is getting the dam bottom TB cover off. you have to wiggle and wiggle till it finally comes up.

Its not that hard if you have basic sockets and a crank wrench for holding the crank while you take the crank pulley off.

let us know if you have any more specific questions.

I have done a timing belt replacement and takes about 8 hours. Also even if you take your car someplace buy the parts and just pay for labor. Mitsubishi timing belt, tensioner, and balance belt are a must. Don't buy cheap belts-this is your head and pistons you are taking about.
