Well guys I went to start up my beast today.

I was having a problem with i not cranking over and turns out i cut the wrong wire for the studderbox:rolleyes: :wall:

I primed the turbo before I hooked up the injectors and IC pipes and she is all hooked up and ready to fire for the first time after the overhaul.

DENIED. Compression read 100-20-140-100. Like WTF are those numbers. it was 140 across the board before I put here away.:wall:

I try adjusting the fuel pressure with the hex screw and it will not go past 20 so what the shit is up with that.

My DD just broke down, I need my car. This winter project is turning into a summer one:rolleyes: , All my money is in this POS and its going downhill.

So...I thought the most simple answer to the compression would be maybe a headbolt didnt get torqued down? But that doesnt explain the crazy ass numbers I dont think.

Frickin DSM is pissing me the hell off. Please dont tell me I have bent valves..Motor turns good by hand and cranks fine but that compression is so...dead.

Ill hope for the best though, Please any thoughts and tips would be awesome. Im so tired, flat broke, and depressed now and am in need of some serious research. Thanks guys:(

Is it possible with the down time the oil dripped off the rings and is causing your lack of compression?

I dont know if its the best, or even good advice. I had this problem with a POS lt1, we put a lil oil in the cylinders and turned it over a few times. It had sat for a while and came back to life. Compression wasnt the greatest but it started. Smoked like a bitch for a while, and was N/A obviously. Id wait for others to chime in before taking my advice. Im a lil sleepy :)

I dont know if a couple months of sitting is enough to cause a loss of compression because of lack of oil. As a matter of fact I may be talking out of my ass. I dont know haha. Haggard ass solution from a ******* douche.

oh and good luck.

I'm gonna agree with the above post. Even with the numbers that you are getting the engine should still start though. Your fuel pressure issue is most likely what is causing your no start problems, figure that out first. Your fuel pump IS running right?

My car did the same thing when i first got the bottom end together then i put like 20,000 miles on it then i had to let it sit for about 2 months then when i got back i did a compression test and it was all wacky like yours then i started the car and let it run for about 25 min then did the test again and BAM all was good and has been ever sence....

Sorry...but the head has to come off. You may as well get a leakdown test performed so you can know for sure what needs to be addressed.

No cure in a bottle for this.

Did you just get a new afpr? if so what kind? if an aeromotive, did you switch to the stiffer supplied spring?

Anyways, did you have the head off , or headbolts out? Did you use the proper torquing method with the headbolts?

When i installed my afpr, my fuel pressure wouldnt go pass 20psi ( on 255fp). Turned out that my fuel pump o -ring backed off because previous owner forgot to put the spacer in. After fixing that, it worked just fine.

Well If Bishilvr and got a red had the same problem than the head wont need to come off.

Im gonna try putting a cap of oil in them and re-doing it tonight. And yes all the headbolts were torqued down correct but I will re-torque them tonight in sequence of course.

I havnt checked the fuel pump yet, I just assumed that it was building a bit of pressure that it was running but I will listen for it now and make sure its pumping.

Yes its an Aeromotive FPR and I did not get a stiffer spring...But Yes I cannot adjust the pressure at all...reads it but cant adjust.

Im thinking fuel pump right at the moment...But it should of started even with those numbers?

Tis' true. I dont see how it has that bad of compression though. Car hasnt been turned on for months and ran very well when I put it away.

Can you bend a valve rotating the crank by hand? and I also thought if you bent a valve it would be toast anyway as you crank it over...

So Im re-torquing the head bolts tomorrow and doing a wet compression test.

Anything I should look for in the FPR and fuel pump that are common for low ass fuel pressure?

I know when the injectors were out fuel was spilling all over the place when I was trying to start it, so still fuel pump?.

Im skipping work and fiddling with it most of the day. So close to firing...yet so far :(

Snap! Did a wet test and got at least a 110psi compression in the #3. no rebuilding head AGAIN for this guy :)

So many things to check in the next few days...BTW I can hear the fuel pump whine.

This might sound dumb but is my AFPR even hooked up correct? The side you cant see is blocked off, that fuel line goes into the bottom thats disconnected than the braided line to the fuel rail.

My buddy told me of a weird way to test spark. Pull the plug wire out, put the plug in and set it against the motor and try cranking it over and look if its sparking....Hes a V8 guy but would this work on the Tal?.

Im more concerned about fuel right now though..20psi is NOT right.

^^Where abouts? I looked on the back of it and see no place where it would be? Hmm
