How does the shift boot attach to console?

I'm putting my 2g console back together and finally have a new shift boot. But how does it attach to the console? Am I missing a bracket?

I see slits in the shift boot and 4 empty screw spots in the console.

There should be a plastic "ring" with matching screw holes that sandwiches the shift boot to the console. Hope you didnt lose it.

Found it
previous owner broke 3/4 tabs :\
i'll have to figure out how to secure it now

It's probably something you can pick up at a junkyard really cheap, if not free.

on my Honda I used 3M velcro from underneath...gives you access to the shifter without having to remove the entire console...

Hahah. But, why would you want to take off the shift boot again from the center consule? I'll tell you one thing, it won't pop out or move from the console if you use God's gift to man, JB Weld.

In case it rips or gets torn. How are you gonna get that shit out with JB all over it. You need to think ahead not just in the moment.

Like I said before what are you doing to this thing? JB Weld might be a little much like you said, I was just throwing out a "permanent" suggestion I guess.
