I'm new to DSM's but not to fast cars (Mk3 Supra). I just purchased a 91 Talon awd turbo 5 speed and I just want a few minor mods. Its got some ghetto catback at the moment so I'd like to switch to something best bang for buck. Where should I go as far as modifying the first things? And I read somewhere free mods for the 2g's? Are there any for the 1g?

Is the data/pocketlogger an ecu mod? or a chip upgrade I read it but not sure what it is?

And also how does rewiring the fuel pump add more power? I have a Walbro 255 that came with the car that I wanted to put in.

And lastly where are some places to get the downpipe/exhasts?

Logger just plugs into the obd plug and software alows you to log the car via a pda like a palm pilot (at least thats how its on a 1g but im not a 2g guy so dont hold me 2 it)

Hard wiring the pump always it to get a much more efficient power supply so it may not exactly add more power but it serves as a supporting mod. But if you have a 255 already and dont have a fpr (like areomotive) i would strongly look into it otherwise you will prob get real shitty gas milage and run pig rich.

As for looking for a decent down pipe i would start by looking into the site sponsors .. quite a few are listed or bare with it for a bit and wait till you have enough posts to access the trader section on here. There is also the dsmtrader.com but be careful who you buy from.

Not sure what is already done to the car but after thefree mods you find on vfaq and such the usual progression includes a mbc, boost gauge, exaust, inj (like 550s), Safc, hard intake, hard ic piping, if you still have that crappy plastic stock 2g bov upgrade to a 1g bov or greddy (preferably old school type S) Its late and been a long time since went to the basic starter mods but i think i listed most.

Ok man.
Reading might be boring as hell.
But if you go to vfaq.com, there is a section on the site with like 1000 questions and answers. This shit will explain to you everything that you asked up top. Seriously. It's a very nice site, and after 2 or 3 times reading it, your knowledge on dsm's will triple.

The car came with a set of 2nd gen injectors, and a Walbro 255. What is the difference between 1st gen and 2nd gen injectors flow rate?

Also someone said using the 255 will make me get shitty gas mileage but doesn't the stock afpr regulate how much fuel is entering?

Also my car has some custom 3" catback, stock filter with no can, and some hardpiping from intake to intercooler but stock piping to turbo? Can this be changed? IF so where do I get it? Also when will I start to need the SAFC?

And lastly my car doesn't have the fender well protecting the intercooler? Is it needed? And how hard would it be to upgrade to fmic?

it's not hard at all to upgrade to a fmic, but you do have to take into consideration what your goals are with the car in order to see how big you want to go with the fmic. A complete intercooler kit will replace the stock piping and as stated before you can find pretty much anything you need from the vendors on this site.

I'm looking for like 300-400awhp max, but that will be later on down the road, what do recomend best bang for buck?
