I have a 93 eclipse that has a crap motor and a 91 gsx. My question is how hard would it be to convert the front of my 91 to the 93 front? Pop-up head lights are cool and all, I just like stationary lights they look better to me. What would I need to do, custom frame work or completely bolt on?

The entire swap is a complete bolt on and easy to do. If your interested man I have an entire 1gb front end, I really need a 1ga front bumper if you wouldn't mind getting rid of yours. PM me if you are actually going through with the conversion.

swap the fenders, hood, bumper, and lights and call it a day, mostly everything is a bolt on.
The key word here is "mostly". Mostly everything is a bolt on... The part that holds the 2 screws that supports the side of the 93 headlights, behind the corner lights is different, you will need to cut out the old one and spot weld the new one in. Also there will be some wire splicing involved since the cars use different lighting connectors.

I learned something new, and good luck on your conversion, post some pics up after your done

Have you considered switching to a different style of stationary headlights? For the work, you might want to end up with something more unique? The DSM with the nissan sylvia (?) headlight conversion comes to mind. It came out nicely. You may have seen that posted up. That particular job is probably more work than you're ready for, but perhaps there's something easier out there for you to consider.

I see no reason to adapt some other lights. There's a big difference between completely fitting new lights versus doing 3 spot welds on each side to fit the 92'-94' lights.

Personally I absolutly adore the 92'-94' Talon body style. I believe it is one of the best lookin cars ever built. Were talking penciled in by God himself and handed down to the dudes at Normal Illinois on a silver platter... so why change perfection?

My post was for the OP.

I don't think I've ever heard the 1Gb front end spoken of so highly before. And here I was thinking they're the worst. To each their own.. why do you think you like them so much?

I know why I like pop-ups: because when I was a kid, all of the sports cars had them: Testarossas, Corvettes, even Knight Rider. Early impressions stick.

I was going to wait until it was complete but here it is so far...

I'm almost done with my conversion. I sourced everything from a local guy who was parting a 93' tsi awd. I paid $300 for everything, front and rear bumpers, lights, both fenders, sideskirts, doorcaps and the spoiler (plus I got him to throw in a set of 450cc injectors and a front middle axle halfshaft:D ). I finished all the wiring about 2 weeks ago, I dis-assembled my original chassis harness and combined it with a 92' Laser harness, it turned out super nice and there are no splices in the entire thing. I still need to drill out a couple bumper bolts that broke off and re-tap them.

I'm also waiting on an oem style cf hood and then everything (including the new hood) is going to be painted black, factory x13 color (the cars original color). My new oem eagle body decals arrived last week. Now if I could only find a new eagle front emblem...

Please forgive the hideous primer job, I bought the 93 Talon parts like that.

I think these are the first pictures I've posted on the forum of my 91' GSX. I bought the car back in Feb. for $300 off craigslist, it was just a stock rolling shell...

Mods so far (many more to come).
-welded clutch pedal
-4 bolt lsd rear
-eliminated cruise control (including column controls from a 1.8L)
-eliminated power steering, installed manual rack
-eliminated a/c
-eliminated abs
-2g awd big brakes
-fresh 23 spine transfer case
-ebay front strut tower bar

I have a 6 bolt that is currently being built, all that will be reused is the block, crank and head casting. Everything else is new. Parts have been coming in everyday, hopefully it will be finished soon.
