Im going to have to agree with DO NOT TURBO a NON TURBO car when they make the exact same car with stock turbo.

PLus it's not just the kit you'll need to buy but your probably going to have to get bigger injectors and fuel pump but im not sure. Dont flame me for beeing wrong just seems resonable since a stock GST or GSX would need bigger injectors and a better fuel pump to run anything reasonably higher than the t-25.

But i could be wrong.

Anyway take the advice they are giving an just buy an 1g or even 2g for a few thousand with the turbo. Just love turbolover said your going to want more in the end.

For under 3 grand I am sure you could even buy a 1g tsi/gsx/rs car in decent shape.
Very feasible considering the fact that my friend just bought a mint condition 88k mile 1997 GSX for $4k (which was the asking price, he didn't even ask to sell it for $3500 or 3000)

Who knows, maybe it'd be fun for you to turbo the 420a.
What are you smokin'? lol. I think you misspelled "definately" as "maybe" and "a-bitch" as "fun"

I think I'm going to try a cheap turbo kit from Ebay. It's like $3-400, so i loose nothing on it.
That's a waste of $300 nontheless.

I'd say save for a turbo 1g and you will be much more satisfied.
+1
I'm saving up for a rolling chasis 1g GSX/AWD TSi and a 2.3L stroker 4g63. It'll be fun :) but will take me forever to save up for :\

I have to agree. Saves time and money. $3500 on a name brand turbo kit? or $3500-4k on a GSX....hmmm...

I have an OBX muffler. I like the deep tone it has, that's the only OBX part I have.

As far as a header goes don't waste your money. I read maybe on here a stock 2g turbo manifold will support like 550hp. You can find them pretty cheap too.

Do what you want to do but I have more respect for a car when I see it running good times and it's still looking stock.

PS. SSAC FMIC's = very good quality for the price.

So, why not buy 200$ item... save gas.. and let it pay for itself...

I’ve heard many people (outside of here) mistake increasing an engine’s efficiency, for increasing the engine’s fuel economy…

If that were the case, my GSX would be getting 50 mpg by now… ;)

I hate this thread....HATE IT :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

I strongly advice you not to put 1 dollar into that 420a motor unless you are changing oil lol.

I purchased header-2.5-testpipe-pulley-intake-short shifter and a few others things...boy do I sound mean but I cant win to save my life.

Jeez, what's everyone's problem here.

OP, do some research on 2GNT.com about modding your car. Most people go with the Pacesetter header as there is basically no difference power-wise between the big name brand ones and the cheap eBay ones. Hell, even the fastest NT eclipse in the world uses a Pacesetter header. Turboing a 420a is not hard either. Just takes time and research to learn everything about what it takes for at turbo to work. I have turbo'ed mine and I'm running stock injectors and have been for almost a year. You can run 8 psi safely on stock injectors with our cars and will be around 210-220 whp (friend dyno'ed at 6 psi and made 210 hp 214 lb tq). I put together my own kit and spent about 2000 total for everything I needed. I could have done it for cheaper (SMIC instead of FMIC, internal wastegate setup instead of external, etc), but I bought parts that I knew I would be ok with for a long while.

I currently have an OBX FMIC setup on my car. I personally havn't had one problem with it, but im knocking on wood as I type. With a kit that comes complete at $250 I dont think you could go wrong. But if I were to do it again I would go with the Greddy.

I own a set of OBX headers on my 1G. They have been on since december. I havent had any problems with them since. They were not direct fit nor a bolt on change. I had to fabricate a bracket and I had to get my own hardware to connect some of it together. I also put a thin layer of copper gasket maker on every piece. It hasnt leaked, it hasnt sagged or cracked as of yet. OBX may not be the best but for the money it seems "ok".

Re: OBX Things? That was fucking great dude.

the weight of the turbo will help your shiny new manifold to crack real quick especially since a 6 year old welded it. :)

and their quality control is junk and you would likely get a flange that did not seat properly has happened to me once on my mr2 (but the dp worked great) and to a friend for his turbo mani.

That is so funny.
