The Niteshades look good. I bought my car with the GTO taillight covers (as seen in my avatar) but the covers just looked a bit ghetto. Ive thought about getting some nightshades or lacquer paint and blacking them out again. It looks really good with my black top and black wheels. The only problem I have is Im not very good at painting, Id have to get someone to do it for me.

Ive thought about blacking out the sides, painting my middle tail light piece to match the car and getting a Mitsubishi emblem to put in the middle of the middle piece. Kinda like a Talon, but a Mitsu badge instead. You never see that on a 1g I think it would look cool. Or it would look cool with the middle piece blacked out and a chrome Mitsu badge... Hmm....

The only thing about RSBeasts car I dont like is no spoiler. I think 1g's without a spoiler look HORRIBLE. They flow so much better with spoilers. His car is real clean and with a spoiler it would look 100x better IMO.

I never used soap, just used lots of water and a towel and scrubbed it down and then later dried it thoroughly....

How do I get the old paint off so I can do it over again?

It just looks like you put it on too wet. Lots of light coats are better than one or two wet coats, especially if your going to clear them. Try taking some laquer thinner to them, it should take it off.

Try laying them flat, gravity will work with you, rather than against you. The first couple coats will be tough to see, so you kinda have to just trust yourself. Nice, light even coats. Keep doing it until you're happy with them. If you're not happy, wash it off and try again. It must look the way you want BEFORE you clear them.

Personally, I've only used niteshades once and wasn't too impressed. Done get me wrong, it looks ok, but I think it just looks cheap. I smoked my 2g talon with basecoat/clear, couldn't be happier with the result.

Its looks like you held the can too close and put too heavy of coats on. You said you sanded them down? Not really necessary. I would just wet sand them and try again, or ive heard it scrapes off with a razor blade.

Held the can 12+ inches away and did very light coats...Only went back and forth one time and it would just start running like crazy...And the sanding should have helped it stick

I cant seem to scrape it off either...Wet sanding would do it you say?

I just went out, wet sanded one of the hacked lens and then took out ANOTHER lens that hasnt even been sprayed yet and POOOF

Once again, all of the paint gets collected in the crevices of the lens and starts running down the lens....Also, AGAIN, the spray comes out SOOOO THIN that only a little bit of paint comes out and attacks certain areas of the lens, so your left with a half clear, half runny painted lens...

WTF, could my bottle be bad??

Could you please read correctly before making yourself look stupid.
key word: lacquer paint
They shine through great and look nice and dark. Looks so cool at night if I get a picture I'll post it.
Trust me I couldn't care less if I look stupid...Just going off what I've witnessed while at the same time trying to enlighten people that there is a product built for this type of deal and why it cost a little more. Nite Shades is a transparent tint spray so your tails stay as bright as they should be (or close) where as 'gloss' lacquer black spray paint is made to cover things so it can not be seen through (like painting over primer, etc.). I painted the tails on my Talon with VHT and a buddy of mine thought it looked nice so he sprayed regular black spray paint over his Firebird tails not knowing of the 'tint' spray. The next day he came to me bitching that he could hardly see any light through his tails. His were as dark as mine but the VHT allowed a lot more light to pass through (evenly) instead of just allowing a small amount through blotchy/lighter areas that he had sprayed. That's why I didn't think it was such a good idea...Maybe you just put it on thin enough so it didn't block out all the light? Hell I dunno but I'm glad it worked out for you man. Let's see some pics with the tails lit up.

I can honestly say that the niteshades made my lights shine through less. You can still see them when i hit the brakes pretty clearly, but when i just have the lights turned on they are pretty dim. Visible yes, but not as much as it was originally. But with 5-6 coats i expected as much. Like i said before though, ive had no problems with the law or inspections because of what i did. I do have friends who did the same and got crap from the cops about it.
