But that's not the end.

I first recieved another little gift from a fellow DSMer as a solution for our piss octane and to ad an even bigger boost to the 33% Toulene fuel mix I already use. (Time to run 25+psi daily ;) )

I keep getting PMs about my set-up.. I thought I put it up already but I guess not.

Bellow I'll list my mods and when needed I'll tell you the benefits of them. YMMV:

TO4B V-Trim w/ Bullseye Housing: Either you hate it, or you love it, I happen to love it. At the ned of the day it still si capable of putting down 50trim numbers. Its only set back *besides not being BB* is its awkward compressor mapping. having Cams seems to negate their affect seeing as I am yet to hear anyone with cams complain about em. Don't let anyone fool you and lie to you that a Evo3 16g setup is an equivalent.

Custom 2.5" Tubular O2 Housing: Not much to say on this one, it gets the job done and looks good doing it.

Pear Performance/M&S rebuilt head: Brand new vlavetrain with revised lifters, mild porting, nothing overly fancy but more than supports my current build.

Comp 101200 cams: Think of the slightly quietier but meaner cosuin of the 272/272 setup. This showed an enormous gain in the orginal build with just a basic instaltion, not even degreed. Here's the difference with and w/out:

Image

M&S "OD" rebuilt bottom end: This block was touched by Jon aka OldDirty himself. Hes a complete tool and everyone loves him for it. Good guy and even better work.

M&S "QT" tranny (23 spline): The tranny didn't live upto the name, it sh*tted on me after 4-5K miles or so. But thats alright, my motto is: "If it aint broke, break it so you can upgrade it.. Now I'm sitting here wiaitng on a TRE Race tranny. Yuuuuuum!

720cc DENSOs: These flow at a similar rate to RC and PTE 750 and 780s, don't be fooled by the advertised numbers Denso still makes the best injectors for our cars.

SAFC
Custom Stage 3 Chip: DSM is nice but if you put your time into something and understand it you can get by with the basics... I was ripping on guys with 20G setups and DSMlink and all I had was a stage 3 chip and MAFT-T

3" GM MAFT (Blow through) w/ MAFT-T: People will cry over this and cry, "get a 2g mas" they'll say, Well take a maft and put it next to a 2G mas, look through them and then tell me which meetering unit you rather haev connected to your car. Not to mention you get the oh so desired pfffffshhhh! of the BOV. Turbo cars aren't cool if ya cant hear em! :p Mines is zeroed out anyways so I don't haev to worry abotu it fkin with my numbers but all in all I couldn't be happier

2.5" IC piping (Short routed): The less piping, the lower the PSI drop meaning the less work your Turbo has to do. Plus its cleaner.

3" Buschur turbo-back exhaust: If God built a 4 banger, it'd sound like this. With the cams it'll make a STi with exhaust jealous of your tone. You wont be able to envy thiers basically because you'll never hear them. With test pipe I drone out all stock exhaust V8s and a good amount of modded ones.

Walbro HP 255 w/ rewire kit: Its a basic staple for anything 50trim and above, but I'd like to be one to remind you of the improvement you'll notice with the rewire kit. I was once one of the doubters who thought it didn't matter. With the kit installed I notice an imediate improve, ment in throttle repsonse with accessories running and I was even able to mess with my fuel trims and lean em out even more and much safer.

Aeromotive AFPR: Got a Walbro?? Then ya need one of these foo!

2g Mani: Someone please find me a ported evo3 mani or equivalent.. this is one of the bottle necks that I believe is holding me back from making even more power and an even better spool

12x31x3 FMIC: Its big, its sexy, and its somewhat efficient.. My intake temperatures stay so cold I get worried sometimes at night :p

Cooling Mist Delux Dual stage water/meth injection kit: My newest and one of the most important additions to my list. Living in CA we are cursed with nazi Cops and even worse 91 piss octane. I run a 33% Toulene mix that allows me to run high amounts of boost with no knock but the alky kit will allow me to cool the temps down even farther all the while raising my octane rating even further. This'll let give me the ability to massage out even more power :freak:

12lb RX-7 2gs wraped in 245s: They're light and sexy, what else do you need? Great for road racing and drag racing with a 16X8" setup. I'll be going bigger with the new setup.

I'm sure I'm missing something, I can feel it but my brain is dead right now lol..

... I wish I could edit some of these post, the typos are crazy but I type more than 100wpm and without a spell checker I'm screwed lol.

Sorry guys and gals. :p

Nice lil run down on things. I have the same wheels, get yourself some center caps and they look even cleaner. I got them from rx7club.com forums off a member.

Elaborate a lil on toulene. Is it safe? what do you do to run it? I am thinking about trying a 50/50 e85 and 93 octane mix.

My buddy went 10.7@130+ on an unported 2g mani so you should be fine for now :)

I'm partial to the look the non caps have, I dunno I'm weird like that as you see. I have the caps.. somewhere lol.

As far as the toulene goes, its perfetcly safe, its already in your gasoline.

Do a forum search on Xylene or Toulene and you'll get more info than you'll ever need.;)

Its actually 3 pieces... It could have been done with only 2. But this way both sides are 3 pieces.

Here is the straight pipe from the 90 degree reducer on the turbo.

Yeah I know, its not so purdy anymore but its been rubbed and scratched from swapping exhaust parts, turbos, fans etc. Itll be redone shortly.

Image

That then connects to a curved piece which you can see coming around the corner in the bottom pic, and that goes to a semi curved pipe into the intercooler.

Image

It could have easily been done like the left side and had one piece curv around and connect to the straight pipe but I hope to have them welded eventually anyways.

Heres a picture of the pipes off the car, the hot side/driver side pipes are on the right, the intake/passenger side pipes are on the left. 3 each. Turbo intake and Maft + Maft-T box in the middle.

Well I jsut got home from work and instead of church I'll be taking my Tranny out so the turn around time on this car isn't so bad.. I hope the thing doesnt fall on my head...

Shee looks sad, I think she knows a big part of her is about to leave but it'll come back stronger than ever. Not anything better than a TRE Race tranny unless you go 4spd dog box, but those don't last very long on daily use so forget about shellin out $4-5K for that..

So sad... So sad.

What about Forced Performance's Exhaust manifold that they came out with? Isn't that supposed to be better than an evo3?

^That is the one I'm talking about, I think it looks sexy for a cast exhaust manifold and looks like it flows good.

BTW, can I have your old 2g mani if you get an upgraded mani? :D

I'm familiar with my options.. Another would be the orginal SBR cast mannifold which flows more than them all. The whole point however is to keep from buying one brand new lol.. I don't need it that bad.

My cell phone takes gorgeous pictures they are just smaller.. I still need to up the size a bit but here is some progress.

Work began on the one man dropping of the tranny (not one power tool is used.. ever. I do all my work 100 percent by hand *except for drilling or sanding*)

However this did change my mind to this aproach and had me lookin for an airtool set. LOL...

Here She sits at the start of the work after I got home from a long days work at about 6 or 7 pm..

Image

I knew the light would be gone soon so I made sure ot get the T-case out of the way and all the little pesky screws that everyone warns you not to forget. Soon I had to bring out a set of my spot lights. I use to work at LOWE's and I have about 4 of these dual stands, 2 single stands and about 6-8 singles that sit on the ground. And I paid around $100 for all of em (you are looking at roughly $7-800 worth of light lol...) I love inside store liquidation and non stock pricing.

Pop. Lock 'n' Drop It!:

It took some manuvering but its finally ready to get picked up from Fed Ex tomorrow and I talked to Jon today and we're one step closer to my final goal as the most badass 1G, or even DSM for that matter over all period.. I'll never beat (nore try) to out perform John Shep and any of these single digit guys but I'm adding some sex appeal to the deal. (who says 1gs aren't hot?) There's just so much more potential for these cars that no one goes for. They don't all have to be fast beater cars or plane jane racers, and on the other side they don't need altezas, body kits or neon lights either..

To4b sitting pretty. Still ZERO shaft play:

ACT 2600.. Its fairly new but I'd hate to have to replace this thing any time soon, I pray for the love of god it last a while...:(

Image

Hmmm, anything wrong with this picture?:

Discussion starter · #35 ·
^^^ Don't worry bout those replacements are all wrapped up sitting in my garage. I was just too lazy to unwrap the 3 miles of plastic they used (don't wanna cut the boots doing it..)

My 4 spider gear SPEED diff came in the other day too. I'd like to thank Allen for that. I got it at a godly price and will be saving a bunch of cash for it. (I even got 3 sets wroth of NGK 7s w00t) I was contemplating welding my diff but I use VCE and that would be pointless plus I road race so I almost had to shell out $400+...

:evillaugh:

All that work and here she sits...

I definitely don't look forward to having to reinstall it.. good lord..

So step by step she's coming back to life. I'm stil looking for a deal on a better mannifold and debating on if I should order my Cage now or wait.. oh well we'll see..

Lookin good! Would you be able to get some closer pics of the work you did to the bumper? I'm liking the look of that. And yeah, if the tranny drop was hard, the install will be teh suck. I do all of my stuff by hand just because I can't afford a nice set of air tools yet. But that will change someday. Oh, and I didn't use a tranny jack for the install, but I would imagine it would make things 10x easier.

Yeah man I can only imagine.. I don't plan on using any special tools to get it back in there but now that I know what I'm doing it wont be so bad..

I never thougth it a big deal to beat on my clutch if I needed to because out of my other 2 cars one is a 2spd pg, the truck is a 4 speed but its cake to take the tranny out. This sucked almost as bad as replacing the turbos in my 300zx when I had it.. or almost as bad as putting cams in my 6g when I had my VR4...

Owning cars like that makes this not seem so bad when I think back to it.. The fact its the ultimate DD tranny goin in there I think I wont mind as much puttin it in as gettin it out..
