The 4g63t block on an evo is pretty strong. If you have to replace all the parts in question i am wondering what they have all done to this car. Misuse not only affects the engine it also reflects on the drive train. Look how much a new transmission driveshaft and axles will run ya and think if you want to take a risk!

i believe i'm gonna look elsewhere. i don't wanna have a tranny rebuilt in the first and would rather not have to buy parts for the other. currently i'm looking at a 95 gst with 95k miles for 6500 obo. here's a piece from the page..

full intake and custom exhaust, greddy upper and lower intercooler piping, greddy type S blow off valve, tein superstreet coilover suspension, DSMlink V2.0, data cable, and software, reverse indiglow gauges, blitz body kit with molded side skirts, pearlescent green paint job, 7 color LED undercarriage kit with green interior neons, black projector headlights, 17 inch chrome enkei rims with toyo proxes 4 tires, tinted windows, custom built 200 amp alternator, optima red top battery, alpine CDA-9815 head unit, diamond audio mids and highs, custom sub box with three 12 inch JL audio subwoofers, 500 watt lanzar amp, compustar 2WSS-AS complete security system, remote start, turbo timer, and 2 way pager remote------ also included but not installed: ACT2100 clutch kit, stainless steel clutch cable, megan racing short throw shifter, brand new primed 97-99 front bumper, 3 gauge pillar pod with gauges

what do you guys think?

Why dont you look for a car that "works" There are plenty out there..... It seems like your trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel and comming up with shit

I'm not scrapping the bottom of the barrel. I've been researching every car I've looked at. I'm not interested in buying a piece of shit that i gotta fix every 2 weeks

I don't know... going after a car that needs a part that you would probably end up replacing anyway isn't such a bad stategy. You can act like it is a huge inconvenience and get them to come way down on their price. I'd rather pay $2 or 3000 for a car that needs a new transmission (that will be replaced with a well built transmission) than a $6000 car that has an underbuilt transmission that you will eventually have to replace anyway. Also, at least you know what YOU put into the car. Who knows what crap parts the schmuck before you used. Besides, someone who admits something is wrong with the car is probably more honest and it is more likely the car really is what it appears to be. People who bought cars where the transmission went out a week later paid more for a car that supposedly didn't have anything wrong, but were deceived. The person selling it probably already new something was wrong (and maybe replaced it with a junkyard part to sell it) but wasn't honest about it giving the buyer the shaft.
