So after I swapped engines I am having a problem with the idle. The car idles good when it is park and it runs real good when it is driving. At stop lights and signs the car idles really, really low( pretty much like shit). I read around on local forums and did a few things myself but I am out of ideas now. I checked for vacuum leaks and all that other fun stuff but no. Starter makes a funny noise when starting the car, almost like a pop noise or as if it is hitting something.

Also I am wondering about the oil pressure on the car. The gauge inside the car reads low, I am thinking it is busted. Easiest way to check for oil pressure would be?????????

Any ideas on what can be wrong would be great!!!!

Bad idle could be several things
Idle air control motor,(common issue) egr emission stuff, vac lines bad, some leak at the TB (vac lines mostly)
Might need to adjust the BISS which requires a real* scan tool to do correctly

Idle sucks, mines been off forever. I set it to 850ish and after a week its back to 735ish lol either that or I raise it to 950-1150 so I gave up for now :wall:

Far as noise during startup, well check that starter, something don't seem right, also could be flywheel issue, hard to say from here.

Good luck Idle is one of the tougher issues I've found to deal with :wall:

Your ISC will always try to make you idle at 750 :wall: , which is why it goes back to it.

As for the OP, there are many threads about idle here. Most idle issues are solved through thorough boost leak tests (the RIGHT way, as described on vfaq.com), a failing ISC or TPS, or through cleaning the throttle body.

750 eh? my manual and the dealer said its 850-950 Rpm for my 96 Gst  also at 750 the car is barely running even before I modded it when it had a bad ISC, and I put in the new one.

Yes, 750 RPM is the normal idle for turbo cars. Your manual and dealer are wrong if that is what they said. If your car is barely running at 750 RPM you have other issues, which could be anything from timing to a bad sensor, to a bad ECU... You might want to search through the idle threads already on this forum. There are hundreds...if not more.

Yes, 750 it is. If you're able to run 850+ without modifying the ECU, your ISC is most likely out of its adjustment range.

Thanks but I'll pass my engine runs like a dream
Just at 750 idle it's feels to me like its sputtering and trying to die but it never does and it doesn't go up and down.

Pretty sure, enough to bet my internal organs on it, that the idle for my car according to Mitsubishi is 850, but it's not my thread it's =========> that guys :D

Hmm now that I think about it suppose it's possible the 850 idle is for an automatic /shrug anyway good luck OP :)
