Thats true. But if your paying 2K for a built race tranny, than why the hell shouldnt it be able to handle it?, assuming you know how to drive well.
You are missing my point, you said your stock tranny can take launches, im showing you the difference between your girly launch and a studderbox/antilag launch. Get dsmlink and do an antilag launch and tell me how that stock trans holds up, and for how long.

We didnt mention 9000rpm shifts, than mine would be kapooey in one pull :)

Mines getting shipped in a month or so to shep.

It also comes down to price. I was really set on getting a Shep stage 3 until I came upon Jack's site. Jack's premium is comparable to a Shep stage 4(even comes with a double'd 1st) for the price of a Shep stage 3.

I have abused my Jack's tranny quite well with NLTS every high RPM shift I make(including 8k+rpm), launching at 15psi, etc.. and it has been awesome.
What kind of 60' times, and ET/MPH are you getting with that 3065 and a jack's tranny?

You are talking about different launches than what i do.. 5500 RPM launch is nothing compared to a 5500 studderbox/antilag launch like i do. There is a big difference in stress between coming off the line with 2psi of boost, or 12psi of boost.
What kind of 60' times and ET/MPH do you get with your Jack's tranny?

I have a Shep Tranny, its getting up there in age circa 2002 I believe. Don't think there were "stages" back then but I got just about every option that was available at the time and absolutely love it. The only negative would be the welded diff, its great for racing however I drive my car daily (prolly have put ~25k on the tranny) and the solid diff makes parking a PITA. Not his fault tho, I wanted to have it done and it does its job well. In the years that I have had it the only malfunctions were a kinked shifter cable and a couple fragged universal joints (not the tranny's fault) but since everything has been fine and dandy. I cant attest to any other companies out there so I won't try. I have nothing but good things to say about my shep tranny, its held up for 25k and I run the piss out of it.

Shep all the way.

Enough said. John let me use his lift as I had towed my car from Iowa to Ohio before the shootout. Brand new stage 4 2g AWD trans.

Go with what is tried and true.

I was going to go for shep, but I'll stick with crap rebuilds till im content with my power, more so my main concern..the running condition of my car.

I see nothing wrong with jack's transmissions, and if the price was right at the time I would more than likely get one.

Now he did say "it never does"(in accordance to his trannies breaking) I believe that none have yet to fail, but someone will do something wrong and blow it up in some way, mis mount it or something. you can break anything really because everyone makes big mistakes at somepoint.

I dislike the bad mouthing of any of the trans builders,
Shep is held in high regards for he is well known and DOES build good transmissions
TRE seemingly has great products( I don't know enough about them to comment much further)
Jack's I hear his transmissions feel pretty good and haven't heard of any issues with communication, also he's been helpful on the board with transmission related problems(for me atleast)

they all know what their doing and frankly, most people who buy the trans don't...unless you have a turbo 400 in your car, you can't really beat their transmissions.

P.S if I had the money I'de run every transmission I could

I remember the big thread on dsmlink about Jack's work/customer service. If I remember right you had a problem with him and had a long reading about your experience on your site down in your sig?

Anyways. I have read nothing but good stuff about Jack (besides that long ass annoying thread on dsmlink's forum). I really like the fact that he is on different forums actually helping out people.

Anyways. I believe that it is hard to actually pick 1 specific "best" tranny. I doubt many people had experience with many different trannies. I myself went with TRE for 1 reason. I felt comfortable. I talked to Shep, and TO ME, I felt that he had a pretty bad attitude. As a potential customer, I emailed and asked him couple questions about what a good setup would be and how were his services comparable to his competitors (aka why should I go with him instead of someone else)? I'm not going to say what was answered to me, but I didn't view it as a good thing. Jon Ripple from TRE on the other hand wrote me a freakin' BOOK!!!! He told me to call him and I had long hours of talk with him about my setup and his work. I really appreciated TRE's shipping services as well. They got a box all setup for you and everything. I have nothing but good stuff to say about TRE. You could call the guy and though he's busy, once you reach him, he'll stay as long as it takes on the phone with you to answer all your questions. He gives out a lot of examples and is very specific with everything.

Please remember that I am not putting down any other trannies. I am just sharing my experience with TRE. I am sure that Jack and Shep do excellent work as well.

I'd like to put out to you guys that there are other people out there than those main 3's. Magnus, RRE, JnzTuning and many other reputable vendors are able to build a strong tranny. I say call them all out and see who you feel more comfortable with. That's what it's all about IMO.
