car started over heating so i got out and checked everything. noticed that there was a drip coming from the bracket that holds the driverside axle to the block. (the half that uses the a/c compressor bracket as a shim.) but from the angle i was at and being that it was dark i couldnt really see. but it either was coming from the back part of the oil pan or the axle bracket. either way i dont see how coolant is leaking from there. any possible suggestions on where it might be coming from would be appreciated. thanks

The head gasket has to be completly fucked to leak coolant.
A freeze plug will blow oil or coolant everywhere. I've never seen a freeze plug
leak, they just blow out.

On that section of that car it could be your heater hose. Or most likely your
waper pump letting go and the coolant driping from the back because the
car is moving forward.

Fill the car back up with coolant and start it up tomorrow in the daytime.
If it leaks from the timing belt side of the motor, maybe under the crank pulley
or in that area. It's your water pump....

Water pump. Convenienly located inside the timing belt cover, behind everything. Makes it damn near impossile to actually see where the water is coming from.

If it does turn out to be the pump, do yourself a favor... get the radiator serviced, and replace the timing belt and Balance shaft belt.

yea from what i could see last night the dripping was coming from the bracket that holds the axle to the block. from the hole closest to the drivers fender. i wont be able to check it out tilll the weekend. luckily its not my dailey. it just sucks cause i just put the motor in last week. since the motor swap its been on stock boost so i doubt the headgasket blew. and i agree with the freeze plug statement. they usually just blow out, not leak. Ill definatly check out the waterpump situation. thanks guys

mine was leaking from the coolant lines form the back of the throttle body that go to the firewall. it had a split in the hose that i found by accident. It was just running down from the hose on to the back of the block.

I would scare you and tell you freeze plug but in reality it sounds like its leaking from the throttle body area and running down the intake manifold to the manifold bracket then onto the axle mount. Chances are its the line that supplies coolant to the throttle body( check your clamps)
