Hey guys, a friend of mine has stumbled upon a stock WRX turbo (TD04L-13T ) that was for sale and asked me if i was interested in it. Now, i`ve never heard of this turbo, the only thing i personally know about it is that it comes on WRX`s from `02 to around `07 (?) and given its a TD04 that it possibly could be a Mitsu made turbo? (Dont quote me on these numbers i found those on a WRX website). Now what i want to know is if this turbo is possibly a better unit then a T25? Ive tried to Google for this turbo but i keep coming up with the same info. Just wondering if anyone else had any info on this turbo? Thanx a lot!

The 13t is significantly bigger then the t25. If i rember correctly from 3si.org it is
housed in our stock tdo4 turbo but the compressor is changed out. if you know anything about the 6G72 it is about comparable to a 15g.

Now not owning a dsm im not sure if it would work. do dsm's have TDO4 mani's? if so it should bolt right up. at least the one in our 9b housing.

Let me see if i can dig up a couple of threads on 3si real fast.

Edit: here is a couple of threads that might help you out

Here is a 13T turbo guide

hope that helps
Man this rule #7 is owning me:p

I would look into something with a little larger exhaust housing than a TD04 on a 2.0L motor. Why not go with a 16G? They're not exactly expensive, especially with what it would cost to get a 1G DSM 13G exhaust housing (if you can get one that isn't cracked) and then convert the turbo.

well the thing is...that...this turbo is free lol i helped a friend of mine put a turbo system on his integra and he got this turbo with the turbo system that he got in a trade for his cams heads and other parts...and he asked me if i wanted this turbo....the turbo is brand new and i cant pass it up though thats why i`m asking for some info on this turbo lol

1g A/T's used a TD04 13g turbo and it came mated to a smaller exhaust manifold than what the M/T cars had with the TDO5 14b. I can tell you those small 13g turbos spool very fast and low and are quite torquey but in the upper rpm range they are crap and only boost to 13-14 lbs before blowing hot air. I had to use 94 octane just to get a little extra boost without knocking. IMO spend the money and get a 16g because I can tell you from experience that anything like a tdo4 13g is only adequate at best when running at it's absolute limits and that was on a 1g FWD A/T. For heavier AWD A/T's or any 5-spd where you have better gearing plus total control over engine speed it's not even worth considering imo. Free or not I'd say don't waste your time.

Yeah going to a smaller exhaust manifold that's known for cracking and bolting a crappy turbo to it sounds like a ghetto move someone would pull if they needed to sell the car asap. Now would be the time to upgrade (for performance + reliability) not downgrade.

Btw, I don't know abot a '13t' but a 13g can't be any better than a t25 plus they don't mate with a 2g manifold and you would need an install kit.
