I was at the shop the other day and had them check out a clunking noise I'd been hearing. I thought it was something in the suspension but they told me that the noise was actually coming from the hood. Is this due to the little rubber things in the bay? Where do I get new ones, etc?

Hood bump stops. They are adjustable and help even out the front of the hood. IMO a good ole junk yard would work great since you can even use ones off a N/T, or just ask someone who is parting out a car and buy them.

Haha well the car's N/T already, so there shouldn't be a problem there. :p

I will look into that. This may seem like a dumb question, but CF hoods still utilize the bump stops, correct?

I just had the same issue with my laser. The car sat for so long I some how managed to loose both bump stops and there was a whole lot of play for my CF hood in the hood pins. I ended up tossing a ton of metal spacers between the hood and pin just to hold it down as a temp fix while I searched around. Finally my friend decided to sell one of his DSMs as a rolling shell and needed a hand pushing it outr of his garage since all four calipers had frozen up. I went and helped him get it out and as payment I grabbed the set of bump stops. LOL

I was thinking about getting a cf hood as mine is bent from my accident. But Im nervous about cutting the cf. I dont want to screw up and be out 350 bucks. IS it really necessary to have the hood pins for a couple of weeks while I find someone who would be willing to help me out with the cutting? Can you just tighten the bump stops more and then leave out the hood pins?

Sorry about the hijack.

It shouldnt even be a question.....you need hood pins for a CF hood even if you have one with an oem style latch. End of debate.

Key words...while i find someone to cut it out for me ;)

Like I said "It shouldn't even be a question". Do really want to risk spending $400 on a hood that you only get a few weeks use out of? YOu asked the question and Im just saying I would rather drive around w/o a hood for a week than risk it popping up on me. I have shit for luck...

Ok so I've got some bump stops located. Hopefully that will help out.

Also on the CF hood thing, I agree w/ JP. It's not really worth the risk IMO.
