A few months back there was an ongoing thread discussing the possiblity of a 1G chin spoiler being produced. Looks like the thread went dead when the alleged producer stopped updating. I'm not sure how long the shut-up-about-it period normally lasts; but i think i speak for a lot of people when i say i'm dying for a 1g front lip!!! Does anyone have some kind of update on the situation?

Have you tried PM'ing the original poster? Sorry to burst your bubble, but I doubt anyone will every create a 1g lip at this point, because the cost of manufacturing for a small quantity wouldn't be cost effective. You're pretty much stuck with whatever is currently out there or mold one yourself.

I wouldn't be suprised if this thread gets closed like your last one though.

Check out this thread for more "lip" info: http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163504&highlight=lip+front

I've seen a modified lip from a Gulf III that looked pretty good. Check those out, or just throw a 90' N/T bumper and stock lip on the car. Other than that, good luck finding one.

I figured he wouldn't bother responding to the 100th person asking him the same question. Another thing i'll mention before it gets locked is that I found a 1GB up in Glens Falls NY with a black fiberglass front lip that looked pretty clean. The thing looked like it was something that came out of JC Whitney 10 years ago but it did still look cool. i thought maybe there was a chance someone else had a lead on something like that. Worst comes to worst i guess we'll have to figure out how to make our own.

That may have been the one's that Totalon used to make for the boards. Do a search on his name and you'll find some picks. It was basically a "splitter" and not a lip though. It was just some ABS plastic cut to shape.

Just do a home depot special. Theres no point in paying 200 bucks for a piece of plastic.

Haha, funny you should mention that. Here's some pics of my HDR front lip. (sorry for the crappy pics, my camera sucks; I'll get some better ones soon.)

What did you use to make that?
A fiberglass piece from getscrewed.com. $159 shipped :p

That would be the rubber seal that goes on the bottom of your garage door. $9 after tax at Lowes or Home Depot. Not only is it cheap, it's durable too. I haven't had a chance to run it into the curb, but I do know that it's flexible enough to take a hit. And if it really does get thrashed, just throw on another one. All of my friends have complimented on it, and asked me where I got it from. And then they touch it, wtf? Lol. For me it really finishes the look on my car. And since my car isn't some track demon, I don't need a functional front splitter.

Thanks for the compliments. I just used double sided 3M adhesive tape. No screws. Hasn't budged at all in almost a month now. But I'll try to grab some pics tomorrow in the daylight.

I think Home Depot should be nominated for DSM vendor of the year. I'm going to check into the door seal tonight. Kronus Did you cap off the ends of the lip by the wheel wells?

There is a very fine line between rice and nice! Hardware store mods are slim to none in the nice category lol

Cap off the ends? Elaborate, I'm not quite catching you.

Lol, well I'd end up just mailing you a garage door seal, and I doubt that would really be worth your money.

Thank you, I do appreciate that.

Now as far as making it a business, the most I could do is have local guys come over and I'd put one on their car for them. Honestly, it's not difficult, and it doesn't require any special tools to make it. As much as I like making a profit off of my work, it's not difficult, and it's not really my work.

All it takes is one roll of 'nail-on' garage door seal, and your choice of securing it to your bumper. I used double-sided tape because it gave the flexibility I needed to make it follow the curves of the bumper. After securing it by this method, I'm sure you could add screws to make sure it won't fly off, but honestly, this tape won't let anything go as long as both surfaces are clean.

I can't explain which part to tape without pictures, so I'll have to dig up a write up from another forum.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Really it makes the lip even more valuable in my eyes. Because to me, it's subtle, it adds to the look of the car, but it's not a distraction. I love it.
