Ok i have a 6 bolt swap in my 1995 eagle talon tsi. The motor only has 120 miles on the rebuild. Tonight what i was driving the car it starts to studder like its getting no gas so i pull over to the side of the road, and the car shuts off. I get out to pop the hood and behind me all i see is clouds/smoke(white). and i smell coolant. The temp sensor line was in the middle like it always is when its warmed up. I checked the coolant and their is none. Is it possible that the computer realised that there was no cooland and shut the car off as a saftey before it over heated. I think their could have been a hose that blew off but i havent checked because it was dark out. Also The oil is perfectley fine on the dip stick looks like royal purple still. I took the oil cap off and no foaming. Can i have a blown head gasket? I have not beat on the car at all shiftin at 2800-3000 rpm. Another thing the engine still turns over. Any suggestions or if someone knows thats wrong i will greatly appreciate it thank you :wall:

Sounds like a coolant hose popped off. Can you see where there are traces of coolant that spilled out? If your oil checks out good, then you should be ok. You could just fill your system up with water and see where it leaks from.

I cant see coolant on the ground we just got hit with about 15 inches of snow. When i pulled over i didnt notice any dripping. Maybe its a heater core hose or something im going to check that tomarrow morning in the day light. I would have it in my garage but i cant because of the snow and my drive way is a hill.

Nope. The car would not know or realize that there was no coolant. You could have over heated.
The Coolant temperature sensor is responsible for telling the ECU the temperature of the coolant. The coolant temperature sender is responsible for telling you in the form of a guage inside the car on the dash board the temperature of the coolant. What could be possible is that the sender, which on the 2G motor is located right beside the coolant temperature sensor, could be bad. Now since you have a 6 bolt, I'm not sure if you have both the sensor and the sender. The sender is a tiny plug with a male spade connector.

OK guys here is what i found out I have a blown head gasket. # 2 cylinder is filled ans all the others have barley anything in them theres nothing in the oil pan. I only drove the car for about 30 sec when this problem happened. Is it possible that the chlinder filled up with coolant fast enough and it killed the spark. Do you think the engine will be fine with a new head gasket and some oil? The engine turns over no problem.

You need to give a little more detail. What makes you think you have a blown head gasket? If you have no oil in the car that's a bigger problem. If the #2 cylinder filled with coolant then it would more than likely do 1 of 2 things.

A) blow the head gasket
B) crack the block

Check your oil. If you think you have any coolant in the cylinder's remove all spark plugs and crank the engine over (after checking oil level). That will blow most coolant out of the cylinders. Then you can do a compression test on all 4 cylinders and find out whats happening.

Good Luck

Their is plenty of oil in the engine rite in the middle of the 2 indents. The oil looks perfectly fine. I added more water and it just filled up the coling system. No coolant came out from anywhere. Because of this i belive its ablown head gasket and its filling up the cylinders when it is under pressure.

ok Just herd back from the machine shop and my bent valve broke a water outlet and this is the reason why all the cylinders filled up so quickly with coolant. The tsi will be back into commission next week
