Hi there guys. I'm doing a little research about upgrading my engine at the end of the year. I interested in doing a stroker. I'm looking at the Eagle 2.3 crank & rods with some 9:1 pistons. How many people are running this combo. At the moment I've got a big 16g, but want to eventually upgrade to a TD05 20g. Will this turbo work well on the engine combo. The car is a daily driver that might see the drag strip a couple times to hopefully shut a few of my V8 mates. I'm wanting to run low 12 in street trim on under 20 psi. Are there problems that occur with these stroker engines I should be concerned about. Should I keep the balance shaft to eliminate any unwanted vibrations. I will get the engine balanced before installation. I have a very good mate that runs a machining shop that will be doing all the work. I would like to hear some feed back from memebers that are running this combo.

A buddy of mine is running a 2.3 stroker with Eagle combo I think. He loves it. He's had a couple issues, but it wasn't motor wise. The motor was built from all OEM stuff.
A 16g would be nice to start off with since you already have it.
Defenitely eliminate those balance shafts. Do some research and you'll find out why. It is just one more belt that could ruin your motor if it fails.
Eliminating them will give you more vibration. But I doubt you will notice too much. Go with some poly mounts if you do. They are very nice

I hoping for around 250-280wkw with a Td05 20g turbo. I want to keep the boost under 20 psi, because it is my only car and I drive it daily. I want it to be reliable. What sort of power are you getting? What Turbo?

Thanks tallywacker.
I personally would buy a new crank just to be safe. I wouldn't want my crank breaking on me and have to build it again.
But $225 sounds like a reseasonable price. I would cryo treat the crank just to be safe

Im using a used mitsu 64 crank and no porblems. Putting down 475whp through an auto which is 550 with a manual. I think a 20g is a bit small for a stroker but would make for very quick spool. I would go for an FP3052 or 3065. Great combo. YOu could easily do 450whp with those at very sane boost levels.

I located a 4g64 crank. I can get it for $225 AUS including regrinding. Does any1 use one of these cranks instead of the Eagle forged unit?
Stay far away from a "reground" crankshaft. You can search for why, but the short answer is that the cranks journals are nitrited for strength, which goes away after you cut them down (regrind).

I would find a virgin crank that you can polish up and use, or buy an eagle unit. The only cranks I've seen break are ones that have a solid balancer pulley, or have been reground.

Google is your friend.
Well fuck some google. Tally already answered my question, so thank you anyways.

DSMscreamer, did you do anything to the crank? Knife edge, cryo treated.. etc?

I'm running mine with a GT35. No dyno numbers yet as I'm still rebuilding after a hydrolock but the previous owner ran 11.7 at 127 on like 28 PSI or something. It's quick though, I'll tell you that. It spools pretty fast, too.
