Spyder Vs. M5

About 2 weeks ago I was driving home with a friend I was trying to get with. Anyways, I was getting off Rt.80 getting onto a state highway. As I take the ramp, an M5 pulled infront of me from another incoming ramp. First thing I saw was the super shiny exhaust under the car and the flared rims. The girl with me (I'll call her Scarlet for the story) is a huge BMW fan and confirmed that it was indeed an M5. I don't know what year it was, but it looked spankin new. I saw him juice it around the bend to the toll booths and though, "This should be fun." He took off outta the toll booths and I was hot on his tail. Scarlet looked over at me and said, "You're joking, right? You do realize that's an M5. He'll murder you." I took that as a personal challenge.

I pulled along side of him at around 80ish and coasted with him to see if he'd go for it. We coasted for about 5 sec and then I saw him jump for it. I punched it and we took off. The rest isn't terribly clear because I was focusing on staying in my lane and Scarlet telling me to keep going. Next thing I knew, I looked down and saw 140 on the speedo, then looked in my rear view mirror and saw him about 3 car lengths behind me. I had to slow down because I'm on my stock suspension and my exit was coming up. He flew past me as I took my exit and the first thing that came to mind was how pissed he must have been that he spent like 100G's on that car and got beat by a convertable Mitsubishi. Haha.

I looked over at her afterwards and said, "I'm sorry, you were saying..." Scarlet couldn't believe that I won and even more, I couldn't believe I did also and actually, I'm still skeptical about being able to beat one. But hey, I'll take any wins I can get. :tat:

 I'm so jealous! Say, could you spare a few parts for a lonely country girl with a taste for more power? :D :D :p

Wish my car could kill M5's  :p

Regardless, nice kill! :tree:
It was the top one. Had that same brand new looking back end, shiny exhaust and flared rims.

Good kill...times on your setup? That things hauls ass!!!

I have yet to see an M5 here let alone race one.
I never bothered taking my car to the track. Any modified convertables can only run a fastest time of 13.5sec 1/4 mile before they're required to have a roll cage. I know I'm well within that time, so I figured it would be pointless to drive over an hour to the track and pay for gas and racing costs just to do one run and get kicked out.

I live in a really wealthy area so every other person on the road is in a BMW. The neighbor down the street has an M5 sitting outside his house. I see ferraris and lambos more often than I see another turboed DSM.

Gdmbat your liking that 18g now right =)
Good kill man,
Haha. Chavez long time no see. Yea, I tuned out the knock issue I was having and was able to bump up my boost a lot. This thing really shines above 21psi. Can't wait to get some meth injection or race fuel and bump it up some more to see what it's like at even higher boost.

So did you get some?

:D
Haha, No I didn't. I did get some from her once before but that was a long time ago. I came to the conclusion that if I wasn't getting any after that, I'm never gonna get any from her. That's why I dropped her and started working on another project.

I think it has something to do with the fact that they weigh 8800lbs. Or atleast that's what it says on the supercars website.

This thing is a V10 powered RWD Sports Sedan, not a Turbo Diesel 4x4 :chair:

Awesome kill if it was in fact a true M5. One of my good friends has an '06 550i with the M5 aero kit. It looks identical to the M5 but it doesn't have the 10 cylinder engine, it has a 360hp V8. Let me tell you, the thing throws you back into the seat! My last Talon ran consistent 12's and my new 1g is 50trim powered and I still get excited when I drive/ride in his car.

I can only imagine the acceleration of a true M5. From a dig I assume it would murder your FWD convertible, as it should be capable of low to mid 12's without a sweat.

Power to weight my friend. If you saw the area that I live in, you'd know that it wasn't an aero kit or anything. I've seen those shows on MTV where people go crazy when they see exotic cars in Hollywood and I think to myself, "What the hell are they going crazy about? I see these cars everyday." I have no doubt that it was a true M5, but I heard something like they have 3 power settings? I don't know if that's true or what that's about, but it would be my only explination.

weight 4000 kg / 8818 lbs
0 - 1/4 mile 12.4 seconds

Assuming that I'm a half second slower than him in the 1/4 mile due to shitty FWD, I should have no problem playing with him from 80mph. I have no doubt that any car would destroy me from a dig.

I understand Power to Weight ratio, but I just believe those stats are incorrect. I did some more research and the curb weight of the Beemer seems to be 4012lbs, so I am guessing on the site you looked at they meant to put '4000lbs' instead of 'kg'.

When you look at it that way, 500hp : 4000lbs is not a horrible P:W ratio. The spyder is probably around ~ 3000-3300lbs and 400hp (crank), but I guess that is also pretty decent.

Yea, that weight did seem insanely high when I saw them. I knew beemers were heavy, but damn. What I don't get is why the V10 only produce 383 lbs/ft torque. Maybe that had something to do with it

Theallpowerful, great imput! Maybe you should consider changing your name to Thealluseless.
