I can't beleive anyone actually buys these glamour exhaust systems anymore. I'm having a local shop make me a 3", turbo to tip, mandrel bent exhaust for under $400. You guys are paying $600+ for a catback. What's wrong with this picture? Are you trying to go fast or impress the Civic boys with your "HkS sHiT, yO"?
actually I got an apexi dunk exhaust for $399 total, shipping/tax included from rollhard.com, and I knew what I was getting, its not loud at all, and the reviews of it are great, but yeah a turboback is awesome for under $400, can any muffler shop do it that cheap?

It's still just a catback. The stock cat SUCKS, it sucks bum nuts, the older it is the more it will suck. I have a STOCK exhaust with a gutted cat. I ran a 13.9, in Denver, that's about a 13.01 to you lowlanders. The day I removed my cat I went from being able to generate "0" psi at the line to close to 8psi at the line. Now if $399 gets rid of your cat then that's the deal of the century.

well, some people live in stupid places that don't have a mandrel bender within 300 miles, one of those people would be me (Kansas) If I had access, you're right I would have done it. But, it's hard to beat the apex's two resonators for a nice "smooth" sound.

The place I'm going to doesn't have a mandrel bender. They are going to purchase a bend and weld them in. Simple, cheap, good flow.

yeah its much cheaper to go the DIY route, thats what i'm doing and mine looks just as good as any top end company's, except its not stainless. i'm prob. gonna get the turbo back for ~480 though. Also, Rollhard.com sells the Apexi N1 for 1st gen AWDs for $460.

i got my dunk for 399 from rollhard and i would buy it again anytime...it a beutifull and great sounding exhaust...i recomend apexi hightly.
i might be the only one but i purchase things because there what i want not because its cheaper....money is NEVER a factor.
im not saying a custom turbo-back is a bad choice
just my .02

I also have a custom 3" mandrel-bent turbo-back system that was close to $500. Most of that cost was the 3" "hi-flo" cat and flex section. I also can't justify spending the same amount for just a cat-back. Keep in mind that a custom job can have as many resonators as you can fit, and you can use your choice of "shiny tips" to get that name-brand look/sound.

Check out the GREDDY EVOLUTION. It's a nice exhaust too. The Greddy that RRE cut up is the Greddy SP, not as nice as an exhaust as the EVO.

I'm the only one!

I bought my HKS Super Drager back in January, and love the sound it puts out. To my surprise however, it wasn't a full 3" from the cat back. It upset me quite a bit, as I was told by one of my distributor's that it was. They obviously lied to me, because I even had the bastard measure it. Oh well huh??

Nonetheless, I still like the sound it puts off, and it's of very good quality......talonboy, i wouldn't worry too much about buying the Hiper. Like i read in a previous post, you learn from your mistakes.........but.......i've ended up being very happy with my HKS......

Lots of compliments on it.....

One thing I want to point out is that custom exhausts do not always perform as well as 'name brand' systems. I've seen some shitty custom-made, 3in turbo-back exhausts that don't offer performance levels nearly as high as they should. But then again, you may have a quality custom-made system from someone who knows what they're doing; then it is definately worth the price you're paying.

I got the Apexi Dunk for the same deal like some others here, and for the $399 just for a 3in cat-back was damn well worth it in my eyes. I wasn't buying it for the 'name, yo I got APEXI jo'. Hell I was gonna get a Buschur 2.5 for $350, but that Dunk deal for $399 was too good to pass up. And I wouldn't trust any of the local muffler shops around my way to make any quality exhaust.
