Not to sound like an ass, but have you ever driven a 300whp dsm? It's probably more than "most" will ever need and makes for a great street car.
What you say is true.

I just keep wanting more though. 300 was ripping quick for a little while, then 400 became kinda lacking, 450 brought be back to happy for now.

Next goal is going to be nearing the 600 mark I think. I am going to try damned hard to be satisfied with that.

Thankfully I am not wrong wheel drive so I dont have to worry about the spinning.

nothing wrong with having goals, but I would venture to sa that most people could drive a 300-350whp car and would guess it was 400 or more nine times out of ten

Right now Im at 300 whp with my 98 Gst and truthfully I'm thinking of awd conversion, too much wheel spin. But if you really want 400 your gonna need Injectors, head studs, fpr, fuel pump, cams, and maybe a 20g or 50 trimm and Link maybe run an E-85 set up. Dont get me wrong lots of power being made from 16g's its what I have, but 400 would be too much.

Think again. After my friend made 6xxawhp, he spun 1st through 3rd on Nitto DR's. It's like making power with a FWD! Now he runs 15" M/T slicks and hooks like a madman.

Also, I agree with the posts that although this is only in the 3xxWHP range, I think you will be more than happy! My friend took me for a ride in his Built motor, 16g, Link, 272 powered 2g GST at 25psi, and let me tell you, the thing was a MONSTER from a roll. Once it got traction, it pulled like a 400+whp AWD car!

Anyway, hate to repeat the stated info, but get some large injectors, dsmlink, suspension work, walbro/afpr and some BC 272's and you will have a killer sub 300whp setup! As long as you ditch those heavy wheels and low profile tires, you will be able to manage the traction issues!

With the money you get from selling the 19's (assuming you do), you can pick up a set of four light 16" wheel and wrap them in decent rubber. If you end up going 50trim, then I recommend investing in some BFG/Nitto/Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.

Thats because Nitto DR's are nowhere near as good as M/T et streets (radial or slick)..

I would stay FAR FAR away from BFG DR's.. They suck.. First choice would be et streets, but since they are on back order til mid april at the earliest, you might find some used or go with Nitto's which aren't that great either, but they're better than a street radial..

Bradikus7 you can easily make 400hp to the crank with a big 16g on 93 if you choose your mods & tune carefully. I have done it as well as many others.
Which equates to about 325whp and the majority of people talk about WHP numbers when they talk about HP.

I want to see a for sure recipe for some of these numbers.Like exactly what you did in what order and how much it cost, then the HP you made from different people.
There is no "for sure" recipe, every car is different and reacts to the same mods differently. Tuning plays a huge role in the final output as well.

But to give you an idea, I went mid 12s(full weight including the spare) with the following:

b16g with upgradded flapper (34mm)
3" o2 elim and full exhaust
3" gm maf/maft
650cc injectors
walbor 255hp
fmic and hard piping
act 2600 clutch

The exact same mods went 11.80s in another car that had pretty basic weight reduction(parts were moved to car #2 after an accident).

The differnce in the cars were fuel(93 vs 101) and psi (18-19psi vs 24psi).

Given the right tuning, weight reduction and supporting mods a 16g can take a car to the low 10s as shown by the "Project Goodwill" car.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the replys and here is the update. I still dont have the exhaust on the car,(turns out i bought an awd exhaust) so i had to reorder one. But the car runs pretty good and i couldnt resist driving it. I drove it down and played a little only runing 10psi right now, wanna work out everything before i turn up the boost. But as for the 19's i think im gonna just put them on my sebring so they dont rob me of my hp to the wheels. I have my stok gst rims, do you guys think i should just upgrade the tires and stick with those for a while? If so what kind of tires should i get?

If you wanted a little more style in your rims, just get another set of 17's. I have a nice set of black KMC Racing SR-5 rims with Sumotomo (however you spell that) light truck/SUV tires. (These rims and tires were on my 87 Toyota pickup) They don't rob me of any hp because they are the same size as the stock 2000+ models, and they look sexy :)

Id keep the stock rims for now, just get them painted real nice or something and get a real good set of tires on it .

Take your money and invest it towards dsmlink and a fully done up fuel system... If you ever get the opportunity to play with E85 you will want more. Therefore get some 950- or 1000cc injectors, trust me that wont be over kill... Goals change ya know.

400 to the wheels on a 16g takes tedious efforts.

Im talking 9:1 compression motors on high octane running no waste gate line ( turbo fully maxing itself out ) and fine tuned in to the Tee with all the best supporting mods ( huge fmic, lightened flywheels, b.s.e, 272cams, extrude honed intake manifold, external gate etc... )

Youd have to go all out to obtain that on the 16g... Make it easier on yourself and get a MHI 20g or a 30r or 3052 or something...

On a well setup and tuned FWD, id expect to hear you make 340-350 to the wheels at best on an optimistic pump gas tune... Good luck.

Even 350whp is a lofty goal for a 16G on pump gas.

LOL.. 350 on my DD isn't fast enough :(

But to the OP-
I would def look into some lighter and wider wheels.
Cams are great.. bigger injectors..
