thats sick, so let me get from what ive read threw this whole post.
for 98 gsx
-jdm galant knuckles for the front
-stock evo8 brakes and calipers all around
-stock evo 8 wheels

i dont need knuckles for the rear?
You don't need knuckles for the rear. 100% bolt on for the rear and you can still keep your hand brake.

What about the Master cylinder or the proportioning valve? Im assuming you would also need these parts too from an EVO....?
I didn't change the master cylinder, but it still works great. I think you can use EVO's master cylinder, but I don't know if it needs to be modified or not:p

So I received my knuckles from Mitsumissile today, waiting on my calipers which should be coming in this Saturday. All I need is some rotors and pads and I am set.

If anyone is considering this swap talk to Mitsumissile, he was quick in getting me the knuckles which were brand new, not used like I thought they would be.

SIDE NOTE: I had planned on doing the 3000gt VR4 caliper swap over a year ago, but it never got off the ground. Since I don't have my Evo calipers yet I decided to measure up the VR4 calipers which were just laying around. A quick look shows that they match up....I will do some more measuring when I can. Not sure if it would be good or bad to piece together some front calipers from a VR4 and some rear Brembos but it might be a cheaper alternative.

So I was right the 3000gt calipers will bolt right up to the jdm knuckle. So it is another option to maybe save some money. Anyways, I have most of the stuff needed for the swap.

Knuckles - sourced from mitsumissile
4 Calipers - Ebay
Rotors/Pads - F & R rotors from www.rotorpros.com
SS Lines/Brake Fluid - www.gruppe-s.com

In the pictures below you can see the rotors(of course with the color fade). Once I put some mileage on these I will have them powdercoated and rebuilt. You can see the brand new knuckles mitsumissile sent me. I am still waiting on the rotors/pads/lines/fluid. The rotors in the picture are brand new 3000gt rotors that I will be selling with the 3000gt VR4 calipers.

I will try to take lots of pictures during the install.

The 3000gt calipers were just sold today. Guy came and picked them up. As well as the rotors and brackets.

Can anyone tell me if the stock bolts holding the 2g caliper on now are the correct size for the evo calipers? I think I read somewhere else (dsmtuners) that evo caliper bolts needed to be ordered.

Hopefully, once everything arrives I will put these on with some help from my friends. Just debating whether to get the calipers powdercoated now or wait a little bit??:dunno:

So what has been your total cost so far for all of this? I would assume you are getting pretty close to the $1000 mark.

I would also like to know how much you would be looking at for total costs.

My setup cost somewhere around 1600 If I remember correctly. Thats with brand new Powerslot front rotors, slightly used rear powerslot rotors slightly used front and rear pads, SS front and rear lines, JDM galant front knuckles, JDM abs sensors, and the bolts & washers to hold these calipers to the knuckle.

PS. In doing this I advise you to have some extra cash on the side as well. In tearing apart I've found I needed to replace both tie rod ends, one wheel bearing, and one lower control arm.

If anyone wants I can make a list of each individual part. Allthough I'm sure by doing some reasearch on your own you can figure out how much things cost.

Well lets see so far:

4 Brembo calipers from Ebay - $330 shipped (Guy had ten sets available didn't realize that $300 for all fours was a low price. I got lucky)
4 Slotted Rotors/4 sets of Pads from www.rotorpros.com- $325 shipped (Was sketchy about the cheap price but read MANY posts on evolutionm.net stating these rotors have held up to 30k-40k miles.)
4 corner stainless steel lines/brake fluid from www.gruppe-s.com - $109 shipped
2 Galant knuckles from mitsumissile on here with abs sensors - $515 shipped
Caliper pins and clips to hold in the brake pads that didn't come with the calipers from www.jnztuning.com - $61

I am figuring another $50 for miscellaneous items to complete the job.

Total- $1390
I hope to sell my stock setup to recoupe. I think after 10 years I needed to replace the rotors, pads, and rebuild the calipers anyway.

Wow those look great. I read earlier that the 2g brake lines bolt right up, what about 1g brake lines. I want my 91 talon to stop on a dime. These brakes are freakin' sweet on my evo, so I can wait to find out how quick I stop in a car that weights a crap load less.
