Well I wasn't asking for you to call it ugly, and the stereo system doesn't matter here, its getting changed too once all this other stuff is done. I am planning on making it simple, but not stock.

That video wasn't necessary either, especially from a mod. I agree its not great, but thats why I'm working on it.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings but you did ask for criticism and opinions. To be honest I have that vid link saved just for occasions like this. I know everyone has their own "taste" in what looks good but you did ask for it. This is for the most part a performance oriented forum and I am surprised that the members have been as nice as they have so far with their replies. I think that your car looks more related to a riced out Honda than a DSM and I would cringe if I ever say it on the road would then then proceed to take pics to send to my friends for a laugh. By definition any mod that attempts to make a vehicle appear faster but in fact doesn't add any form of performance gain or serve a practical use in my book is RICE.

You can do what you want with your hard earned money, but I think you are nuts if you are planning on dropping another $3k into it for looks. If I were you I would wait until F&F4 comes out, sell it to some ricer for "mad loot", and use that money plus the $3k you were going to spend on looks to pick up a real nice clean 2g awd.

When I was young (like 15-16) I liked flashy riced out cars but it didnt take long for me grow out of that. If I can help another DSMr from going down that path I will give it my best effort. But like I said it is your car and your money so do whatever will truly make you happy.

Just this time, I just want them to check all the fluids and make sure its still running ok.

I've changed the oil several times.

I just wish I had a paint booth. :)
I was trying to say that you could spend the money buying the materials you need so you could be the one to self diagnose whether or not your car's fluids were ok, and car running fine.

Well its stuck like this until I do anything because I don't have the stock bumpers and its most likely not the stock color. I have considered selling it but I probably wouldn't get another one. I asked for "constructive criticism" which means I want your opinions on what to do and if I'm heading in the right direction with it. If I could start over I definately would, I've thought about it, but the condition its in, I just won't get anything for it. Its all ran through my head but its just not plausible to me.

The way I see it when I'm done is that it has front and rear bumper that are different, but the rest will look fine. Remember, no more wing and painted hood to match. It will get lowered some and I'll probably get some 5 spoke rims. I'm wanting to go with a metallic red, something a couple shades darker than it currently is. It should turn out really nice. But I know you guys are always going to have the opinions you have now and whatever I do, its not going to change your opinion.

I provided a little different feedback for you, not just totally geared towards what you "should" do to your car in my opinion. I would try to make sure your car mechanically checks out in most areas before going towards looks. If your car checks out then you get the green flag.

Do what you want to the outside of the car that makes you happy. Just think...if you had bought a turbo eclipse, how rediculously fast your car would be, hell...maybe even reliable.

Oh I want a GSX or GS-T... but my insurance would probably sky-rocket. I've been looking for a black one but just can't really find anything around here. My ultimate goal was to go black and black everything out with black 18"s.

My previous comment was made while you posted and was toward Jp90Talon, nothing bad.

Well IF I were to sell it, I'd have to get it painted because the clear coat is coming off. I don't know if I'd even get enough for it. It only has 67k miles on it and there are GSX's out there that are trying to get $10k for theirs that has 100K+ miles. I don't have the $7000 to get the GSX, especially not know how good the engine actually is and if its been taken care of. I'm all for it if you guys know whether or not I'd get the money from mine, or know somebody selling one for a good price. I'd keep the stock bumpers, put a lip on the front, and lower it. I'm all for that.

well, seeing as gas prices are going up. Anyone that doesnt buy your rs for mpg is nor right. (mine was horrible on gas bc it ran eally rich and had the avanger tranny swap). but id say u could get 4-4.5k for yours. But that is my.02

he could always do the gst-gsx swap...make the gst a gsx in the future...but it would be easier to buy the gsx though.
First of all please click the link in my sig and read the forum rules with a focus on Rule #7 before posting again. If you dont understand why I have asked you to do so after reading them feel free to PM me.

Also please dont attempt to give advice when you do not know what you are talking about. A 2g N/T comes with a 420a powerplant. It is nothing even close to a 4g63 found in the gst or gsx models. So forget about ever doing the swap.

I was referring to a gst. Lets say if RSeclipse99 bought a gst. He could possibly, if he wanted to, convert his gst to a gsx. As far as the drivetrain diffrences, I agree they are diffrent. I'm not that dumb.:chair:

If you sell it now for say, $3000 you won't have to go through any of the trouble or risk of painting and doing a whole bunch of body work. You COULD, realize that your gonna have to take a loss, find a stock bumper, slap it on and be able to sell it a lot faster. Keep in mind, KBB value on this car is 4-5 grand (depending on mileage) so you could just bring that up if you say you want to sell it for $3500. Save up a couple grand, fix your car as best you can, pick up a turbo DSM and maybe even put the old body parts on your new whip (if that's what you like.) Think of your options and be realistic in what you think you'll actuallly be able to sell this car for.

Ok I apologise....I thought you were suggesting attempting to make his car into a gst or gsx. But thank you for now following rule #7. ;)

Yes you are :p . This is a pain in the ass. You need a trans, fuel pump and tank, suspension, just to name a few. The only reason I sould ever see anyone doing this is if they had a GS-T Spyder. But even then... they still drive a convertible:D

I never said the gst to gsx swap would be a simple bolt in. You'd basically need a rear clip off a gsx, like the whole subframe and everything attached. But to keep this on topics, $3500 would be a decent price for his car as-is. Once again, that is my .02.

Well now I am trying to figure out what I am going to do. I know its a waste if I do all this and its resell value would suck. I mean if I could get my new front and rear bumper on it, paint it and sell it for something like $6k. I don't know if thats possible but I don't think its in good enough condition to sell right now with all the clear coat coming off an the paint chipping on the bumpers. I'm going to a couple shops on Wednesday anyways so I'll see what can be done. Maybe I can get away with putting on my new bumpers and just having them paint those and re-clear coat the car for not much.
