Do you need one? No.
Should you get one for the 255 pump? Yes.

Up to you whether or not you want to have a harder time tuning and wasting gas for no reason.

Searching would have found this easily.

No you don't need one. A 255 pump will raise pressure slightly but nothing you cant tune out. The only issue tuning wise will be a little richer idle. Big deal. I ran my car with no FPR for a long time and my mods were...
255pump
eprom ecu
720cc inj.
evoIII 16g
2g mas
272/272 hks cams
Evo VIII FMIC.
Cyclone intake manifold
SAFC II

The car ran geat and just idled a bit higher not a big deal. In my opinion unless your getting a great deal you can spend the money else where.

All you guys need to read the thread in my link above. The answer is no, you do not need one. If you add one to your mods list, will you have an easier time tuning, and make more power? Most Likely yes. Your Call.

And just to make this a little more fun. Yes you NEED a FPR. You do not need an AFPR. ;)

HEY, do you have an idea how much richer of an idle that would be? 300rpmish?

I never had a problem with my idle. Does it make you run rich at idle? Yes, is it unbearable? NO! I idled fine at 900 rpm with 550's, a N/T regulator, SAFC, and a Walbro 255 HP pump. The 1g N/T Regulator will raise your fuel pressure from 37(ish)psi at 0 vacuum to 49(ish)psi at 0 vacuum. If you run them with 550's the math comes out to having 632 cc/min injectors.

It doesn't raise fuel pressure slightly higher. It raises GREATLY higher. My fuel pressure showed 55+ psi until I reached 4+ psi, using a wally 255.:chair: It always overruns a stock FPR.
