Well i am new to the dsm platform, and my gsx is also my first forced induction car, as well as my first AWD car. i was on my way home last night after dropping my girlfriend off at her house, and i notice as i pass a fox-body mustang, he starts to pace me. he didnt seem to have any interest in racing however, so i go to turn off the main strip, and he gives a rev. So i proceed to follow him. He drops the gear and proceeds to take off, i do the same, not gaining on him, but not falling back either. We get side by side again, and once again he drops the gear. I was ready this time and dropped it down and put about a car and half on him. We both get in the turn lane to pull a u-turn and im out front. After i turn and straighten out i hold the revs at 4500rpms. As soon as i hear his motor come to life, i launch it, putting several cars on him, all the way till 3rd gear. a combination of me missing third:eek: and him spraying, left me with my doors blown off the last time:rolleyes:

but i thought i did rather well for my first serious race in the gsx

Capitalization and "i" alone doesn't mean a thing here unless it is I.

Serious races do not happen at the strip, thats where LEGAL races happen. I was going to post first about not many people here caring about street races, because in general they are dangerous, but don't flame on him for saying it's his first serious race. A 5.0 is a serious race to people new at the dsm game, no matter where it is done, but always a better route to do it at the track where everything is good.

I wouldn't act like your shit doesn't stink though. Fox body's are no joke when played with.

A good buddy of mine has an '87 5.0 LX, and after cat-back exhaust, and intake and a 4.10 gear, has cut his time down from consistent 15.0, to a consistent 14.2 car. Nothing amazing at all, but they definitely like to rape the unknowing.

Good kill man. I had my best kill the other night against a 03/04 S/C SVT Cobra. He had pulley mod and the normal bolt ons. The S/C was screaming so I think he was running some good boost.

After I took him twice I then told him I was running a 16g and he was real surprised. Said I had a fast, nice car. Then used the excuse of traction control was on. LOL

The first race was 1st to 3rd and it was on. He really wanted to race again, guessing he took off traction control and I still took him, 2nd -3rd. So im sure he took it off and still couldnt take me. I only had about half a car the whole time though.

I finally got to put some dumbfounded faces on a couple guys in a Rustang the other day. It was the "WTF I can't believe this four-banger is keeping up?!?!" look. :p

Felt pretty good, I won't lie.

You took a pullied Cobra with a 16G? I have to call BS on this Dude, having owned an '03 and beating many DSM's with more power than you could put down with a 16G. My Son, with an FPGreen, got his butt kicked badly in a roll race by a pullied/tuned Cobra but did manage to beat a stock one. Sorry Bud, I know DSM's and Snakes so if ya actually beat one, ya beat the driver.

Do you race in 5800 FT. altitude? Have you seen the 16G powered car that runs a 10.9 and puts out 600 HP? Cars run waaaaaay different in Colorado, than in WV. I've seen 10.9/10.8 bikes and cars at sea level, run close to 13's high 12's at Bandi. There are too many factors to go acting around claiming to know so much about DSM's and "snakes".

I swear I think someone could post a kill on a Ford Escort, and people would go "no way, I owned a 10.9 second Escort, there's no way you could have beaten it". Didn't any of your mothers tell you "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"? I love DSM's. They are my absolute passion, and I dunno maybe it's because I'm a girl, but I will actuall admit when a DSM loses instead of using the "It was the driver" or "No way" excuse.
