Boost cut? Possible fuel issues?

I have been having longer and longer cranks lately to get started. I thought nothing of it till yesterday. It was a really cool night but I started onto the highway engine up to temp and gave it some pedal. My boost is set to 17 on the stock 14b turbo, I made it to about 10 and then wam fuel cut. I am wondering if it was just the cold making a denser charge or possibly issues with my fuel pump not supplying enough juice.

Car is a 1990 tsi, AWD free mods, upgraded exhaust from dump back, K&N but mostly pretty stock, mbc set at 17 from this past summer.

17psi and a free flowing exhaust seems a bit much for a stock fuel system to handle reliably. I bet you are just overworking your fuel pump and it is in fact the cold air, should probably dial it back down to 15psi.

Obviously this could also be a simple boost leak, a dying battery/alternator or something else.

Fuel pump rewire would help out a little but I would still turn down the boost

I appreciate your input, I hadn't looked at the temps, but today was -6 F and I guess that may be enough to do the trick. I am sure the fuel system is worked to the max.

I think dialing the boost back a little would help some too.

Curious if dialing back boost would help mileage very much or just a slight gain. Car eats premium like its going out of style.. (well I guess it is)

^^^Do like I did...buy a logger and safc and lean your system out. I'm getting 27mpg as of now!
