After replacing my clutch(Thanks Pounder!), when I hooked the battery up after it being unplugged for abou 12hrs the stereo asked me for a 4 digit code. I tried 0123, 1234, 1111, 2222. After the last code entered, the stereo said "Off" and wont let me do anything...I am guessing the computer thinks it was stolen and is asking for a validation code...Anyone have any answers?

i've done that before.. go to the dealership.. they know what to do.. they'll give you the code for the radio and they tell you how to get it to power back on...

I was afraid of that, anyone know how to resolve this without going to the dealer?

Pull out your radio(dealership charges like 80 bucks or some crap to do it), and get the serial number off of it. You should then just be able to call up the service dept. and get your code over the phone. Because you typed in 4 wrong passwords, you will need to leave on your auxillary power on for like 45 mins. That will re-activate the radio so you can try more codes. Goodluck.

What do you mean by auxillary power? Do you mean unhook the battery for 45 min?

actually you don't have to wait 45 minutes. just leave hte key in the ignition on the ACC setting for about 10-15 minutes. then you can re-enter the code. however, the only way to get the code is to check the serial number on back of the radio and have you VIN number. some dealers won't do it over the phone just in case you are a car thief, so they'll ask you to come in with proof of ownership. just give them the numbers and they should be able to pull up the code on the computer.

97GSTspyder, You were right on the money...here's the procedure: for 45 minutes leave the key in the acc position on the ignition and leave the stereo on. The l.e.d will read "off" for 45 min. When it has reset itself, the l.e.d will be blank. Then push a button and it will say "code". Type in your code(I found my card inside my owners manual) and then hit TAPE, and tadaa, it works...SUHWEET!

You don't need to pull the whole radio. Take off the front trim that goes around the radio itself, be careful and I think start at the top if I am not mistaken. Once that is off, with a flashlight you should be able to pick up the serial number off of the top of the reciever. Call up mitsu with your VIN and the serial like they said at it's like a 5 min process, I did it back in the day before I realized that I still had the original card with the code on it hidden in the massive inch and a half thick stack of reciepts and papers from the old owner. Now the code is easy to put in.
